Have a gorgeous weekend! :)

 Hello, all!  It has been a busy week, full of testing, preparing for our musical, and learning SO much!

*We took our NWEA MAP Growth Spring Testing this week and the kiddos did fantastically!  I was so proud at how conscientious each student was and how they took their time and did their best.  The results will be coming home soon.

*We were able to hear and watch our AMAZING band play this week!  Then, we were able to try out instruments with Mrs. Janie Wilson, our band director.  We had so much fun and many of us decided that we may want to try Band next year!

Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
RELIGION- This week, we have been learning about the first Christians.  We discussed what deacons are and the role that Stephen played in the early Christian church.  We talked about Peter and Cornelius and how the Holy Spirit gathers believers around us to help us to share and show the love of Jesus.
MEMORY-
4/28-You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.

5/1-Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

LANGUAGE ARTS- We learned more about Harry this week and the relationships he had in his childhood that shaped the adult he became.  We will finish the book next week, learning all about the jobs he had as an adult, as well as his presidency.  This will be just in time to visit his Presidential Library and Museum in May!  We also worked on our Biography Lap books this week--researching, writing, drawing, and publishing!
SPELLING WORDS for Friday, May 1st:
Book: Harry S. Truman: Thirty-Third President of the United States
government, lumberyard, courthouse, fountain, responsibility, reputation, disappointed, graduated, president
Challenge Word: foreign

MATH- This week we added and subtracted angles, measured angles, and classified polygons and angles.  We are ALMOST finished with our mad minutes too!

MISSOURI HISTORY-We discussed A LOT this week!  We talked about Missouri's nickname, famous people from Missouri, voting, famous places in MO, our neighboring states, the weather, native American tribes from here, our state song, and some other fun Missouri Trivia.  WE will dive back into our history books next week and will test over all Missouri things on May 6th.
Special Classes:
Art- We created coil clay pots in the style of the Osage Native Americans.  We learned how to use slip and seal the clay.  That was fun and messy!  We will paint them next week.  These will be on display at our Museum in May.

Writers' Workshop- We worked on our reports about our famous Missourians and began the revising and editing process.
Computer Lab- Those of us ready to publish our reports began today.
Music- Students have been practicing their songs for their spring concert.
P.E.- We walked the 800 meter and compared this to the Rams Run, and the 100, 200, and 400 meters we ran last week.
