Enjoy this beautiful fall weekend!

Hi, 4th grade families!  We had a great week and have been learning so much!  Report cards are coming today in a sealed envelope.  Please make sure to check your kiddos’ Homework Folder for it.  Thank you!

*On Monday, we had a local author, Kim Luke, come and visit us!  We learned so much from her!  She shared her writing process with us, and how she became an author.  She read part of her series to us too: The Enchanted Farm at Fort Osage. She has her books for sale here, if you are interested!  www.kimlukeauthor.com and use the code TLS to waive the shipping fee.

*As a summary activity of our MARTIN LUTHER study, we will have a special German lunch (provided by the Brunkhorsts) on Tuesday, October 31st, which is also Reformation Day!  Students are welcome to bring their own lunches, grab a hot lunch, or to partake in our feast in the classroom.  We will be having family recipes of wiener schnitzel and sauerkraut, German potato salad, corn, and German chocolate cake.

*That afternoon, (10/31), we will have our FALL HARVEST PARTY here in the classroom.  We will have treats, some fun classroom games, and we will watch “It’s A Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!”

*We host CHAPEL next Wednesday, November 1st, at 8:45!  Please come and join us, as we teach the rest of the school what we have learned about Reformation Day and Martin Luther.

*On Sunday, November 5th, at the beginning of the 9:00 service, our kiddos will be SINGING at church at the north campus.  (425 NW R.D. Mize Road, Blue Springs)  Please get there by 8:45, and sit with your family.  We will sing right before the service begins.  Please wear church clothes or anything red, white, and blue, or Rams!

*We will be commemorating VETERAN’S DAY on November 10th, with a service celebrating them!  Our students will be singing, reading poetry and prayers, and thanking God for our veterans!  We encourage you to use the attached flyer to invite family, friends, and neighbors to Timothy Lutheran School’s Veterans Day Celebration.  Everyone is welcome!

Date:  Friday, November 10th

Time:  9:00 am (Coffee and Donuts will be served at 8:30 am)

*Also, of you have any veterans you love and want us to celebrate in our slideshow, please send information to Kim Brunkhorst (kimb@timothylutheran.com) by November 6th.  Thank you!

*Here is what is needed for each veteran:

-Any other important information you may want added!

(If your photos were in last year’s slideshow, please let us know this, as that information has been saved.)

THANK YOU!

*Save the Date! Friday, November 17th, “Let’s Make History” is the theme for TLS’s annual TRIVIA NIGHT!   Daycare will be available. Stay tuned for more information regarding ticket purchases, location, etc. It will be from 6 – 10 pm. The price is $120/team of 8 or $20/individual. Don’t have a team? Come anyway! We will find a team for you!

RELIGION/LANGUAGE ARTS- We learned all about Martin Luther and the Reformation this week!  We read several stories about Martin, watched a few videos, dug into God’s Word, and analyzed parts of his life.  We also learned the hymn, “A Mighty Fortress,” penned by Martin Luther himself.  We are so thankful for the blessing he is to our faith, yet we know he too, was a great sinner.  We discussed ways we can stand up for our faith too—not recant---and share the love of Jesus everywhere we go!  We discussed nouns, verbs, adjectives this week, as well as character analysis.  The kiddos loved this song called, “Reformation Rock,” by Lost and Found, so I promised I would share the video with you…So, you too, can hum this song day and night.  You are welcome.  :)  https://youtu.be/tsbRDyErfOI

We visited the COMPUTER LAB today to publish our BioPoems on Google Docs!  All of the kiddos finished!  They are learning how to use this writing tool quite well!

MEMORY for Next Week: 10/31-Say the entire Morning Prayer.

11/3- THE FIRST COMMANDMENT- You shall have no other gods.

What does this mean?  We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things.
