Here are updates about our classroom:

RELIGION: We have learned about Jesus’ transfiguration and His parables. We were reminded that all are sinners and fall short of the glory of God!  Thank goodness for JESUS!  We also practiced and shared the Chapel message this week!  We taught others all about Jesus on the cross and his promise of heaven to the thief hanging by His side.  We had some facts and opinions about heaven that we discussed with our schoolmates too.  The kiddos did a great job at sharing God’s love!

MEMORY for next week:

3/19-Day by day, at home, away,

Jesus is my staff and stay.

When I hunger, Jesus feeds me,

Into pleasant pastures leads me;

When I thirst, He bids me go

Where the quiet waters flow.

3/22-Who so happy as I am,

Even now the Shepherd's lamb?

And when my short life is ended,

By His angel host attended,

He shall fold me to His breast,

There within His arms to rest.

LANGUAGE ARTS: We read the selection, “Tanya’s Reunion,” and had great discussions about inferring information about the characters and how the characters developed.  We also learned about singular and plural nouns this week and changing their endings.  We will be reading a story about immigrants, Ellis Island, and citizenship next week, which will get us ready to learn about the School of Economics!  Yay!

SPELLING words for Friday, March 22nd:  from the story, “A Very Important Day”: horse, chore, firm, learn, dirty, curve, world, pure, board, course, heard, return, cure, score, worm, thirteen, worn, curl, shirt, search, *allegiance

COMPUTER:  We published our haikus today.  We are getting pretty good at Google Docs!

MATH:  We are knee deep in fractions!  We learned all about mixed fractions, improper fractions, logically solving word problems, and how to decompose mixed fractions.  We tested over adding and subtracting fractions on Monday.  These graded tests will come home next week.  Thank you.

MISSOURI HISTORY:  We learned how Missouri is home to many ethnic groups and where the original Missourians immigrated from.  We discussed Missouri’s largest cities and festivals that happen in these cities.  Next week, we will study population maps and talk about the arts, sports, and recreation that are in Missouri.

SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS: Next week, we will learn all about the School of Economics, complete job interviews, and begin working in shops.  Within shops, we will create signs, nametags, and work on passports, as we learn more about our respective countries.

SPECIALS--

ART:  This week, we learned all about Roy G. Biv!  We all listened to the same story and then created pictures of Roy, learning all of the colors of the rainbow!

WRITING: We share our cinquain poems in Readers’ Theatre and learned how to write haiku poems.

P.E.: We have been working on track skills—conditioning and the running long jump.

MUSIC:  Students are working on songs for the Spring Musical.

We had such a fun STAR party today!

Yours in Christ,
Kim
