It is a beautiful FRIDAY! :)

Hello!  We have had a great week in 4th Grade Land!  It is hard to believe that we are down to just 10 days of school left!  GOODNESS!

Events:
*We took our NWEA MAP Growth Spring Testing this week and the kiddos did fantastic!  I was so proud at how conscientious each student was and how they took their time and did their best.  Results will be coming home soon.

*Our SPRING PROGRAM is next Thursday!  The kiddos have been working hard memorizing their lines and practicing their songs.  They will be bringing their lines home to practice this weekend too.  The program begins at 6:30. All students will be wearing red t-shirts provided by Rod Lindemann.  We will be sure to send him a “Thank you” of appreciation!  😊 Please, wear dark bottoms (no holes).   If you would like your child’s shirt sent home before the night of our program, please, let me know.  Otherwise, he/she can put it on upon arriving to the classroom at 6:00 Thursday evening.

*BOOK REPORTS-we've been working hard on these lap books!  Please remind your kiddo to follow the directions on the packet.  This would be a great thing to finish this weekend!  They are due Friday, May 9th!

*FUN DAY is also Friday, May 9th!  Please remember to send your kiddo to school with tennis shoes, some comfy clothes, sunscreen, etc.  It will be a FUN day!

Here is what we have been up to this week:

RELIGION: This week, we have talked about the disciples after Jesus' resurrection, namely Peter and Stephen.  It has been interesting and inspiring to hear how these men shared their faith without fear.  God calls us together with other Christians --to uphold one another and to learn, worship, and affirm.  Today, we also began a four-lesson series entitled, "Sent Apart to Serve."  We had amazing discussions!  We will discuss church work and explore what it means to be a church and how people may become church workers.  We will be answering these following questions:
What is the Church?
Who are Our Church Workers?
How Do We Care for Our Church Workers?
How Do We Form a Culture of Church Work?

Please keep us in your daily prayers!  Thank you so much!
Dear Jesus, Rock of the Church, thank You for the gift of Your church.  In Your name we pray.  Amen.

MEMORY:  (It will be the last week for memory work!)
5/6-”So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” ~Romans 10:17
5/9-“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” ~John 14:6

LANGUAGE ARTS:  We read the true story of Esther Morris and her lifelong goal of giving women more equal rights, in the story, "I Could Do That!"    We discussed how with her help, Wyoming was the first state that allowed women to vote.  We discussed important terms like:  legislature, politics, amendment, and judge.  We discussed cause and effect, chorological order, and VCCV and VCV patterns.

SPELLING WORDS for next Friday, May 9th:  (It will be the last week for spelling words!)
(from "The Ever-Living Tree")
poster, secret, whether, author, rocket, bushel, agree, bucket, ticket, declare, chicken, clothing, apron, whiskers, degree, gather, achieve, rather, bracket, machine, regret, nephew, *garrulous
MATH: We've been reviewing units of measure, discussing telling time and figuring perimeter.  Next week, we will discuss area, and how to interpret a line plot.
SCIENCE:  We talked about food chains, learning how animals native to Missouri use the resources in their environment for food.  We discussed pileated woodpeckers, voles, voles, grasshopper sparrows, crayfish, and prairie rabbits!
