Happy Weekend!

Hi, parents.  God always amazes me with His timing, and how He lays plans out for us when we feel weak.  Yesterday’s tragic events at the SuperBowl celebration left me speechless, devastated, and angry.  I love the city I was born and raised in, and I was hurt that this joyous day was taken from us.   I prayed about it most of the night.  I knew the kiddos would have questions, and answers I could not give, but I also knew the right thing was to talk about it all in God’s light, reminding them of His strength and guidance.  He provided.  I still did not know how to talk about it when I came to school this morning, and then I as I processed it, I reviewed the Religion lesson that I was teaching today—"The Temptation of Jesus.”  What did He use to fight the temptation?  GOD’S WORD.  Satan offers his temptations with the doubt that God’s way really is the best way.  Satan encourages us to be independent of God and to rely on our own ways.  When we are lost, when we don’t know what to say or how to feel, we HAVE to rely on God.  In His Word are the answers.  So, this morning, when student came in, I had them look up five Bible verses that spoke to them about the love that God has for us.  They were to write them down and be ready to share.  They could also write down whatever was on their hearts in minds in their journals and share if they felt compelled to do so.  This led to a beautiful shared conversation of God’s love, the sin in the world, the bad choices we make, forgiveness, God’s healing power, and most importantly, His promise to never, ever leave us.  I am so blessed to be here with your children.  Everyday, I am gently reminded of this.  Today was no different, but the message was loud and clear.

*I am excited to meet with each of you tomorrow!  Your kiddo is prepared and ready!  See you then!

*We celebrated Ash Wednesday and our Valentine’s Party yesterday afternoon, and fun was had by all!  Thank you for sending in yummy treats!
