Happy Mother's Day Weekend! :)

Hello, all! Happy Mother's Day Weekend!  May you feel LOVED, appreciated, and cared for this weekend and always.  Your kiddos are blessed to call you Mom.  I am thankful for you all and the partnership we share.  God is good!

Can you believe that we only have one week left of school?!  Where has the time gone?  This group of kiddos is so dear to my heart.  I cannot believe we just have one more week together...

They did a FABULOUS job singing at the Spring Concert!  I was so proud!  Here is a link that you can view it: (Please do not publicly post it.  Thank you!)
3rd - 5th grade Spring Music Program

*FUN DAY was FABULOUS!  We had beautiful weather and a great time!  Thank you to all of our volunteers!

Upcoming Events:
*As a whole school, we are all going to wear our Yahweh shirts on Wednesday, May 13th!  (4th grade can change into their Famous Missourian outfits and then back again!)

*4TH GRADE'S FAMOUS MISSOURIAN LIVING MUSEUM -
You have been invited to attend 4th Grade’s Famous Missourian Living Museum
When?  Wednesday, May 13th, from 9 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
Where?  Timothy Lutheran: 4-G’s Area
Why?  4th graders have been studying Missouri History and we want to share some of our knowledge with you!
**There is no need to R.S.V.P.  Please just come by at your convenience.  The entire museum will take about 20 minutes to go through and to see all of the exhibits.  Thank you!  (I attached an invitation that you can share!)

*I met with each of the kiddos and we discussed what they will be wearing and what props they need for the Living Museum.  Please check with your kiddo, as to what he or she needs from home.  I have some things here at school.  Please use things that you already have...please don't go out and buy anything!

*4th GRADE'S END-OF-THE-YEAR FIELD TRIP is on Thursday, May 14th.  This is an all-day trip!  We will be visiting the Harry S. Truman Library for a scheduled tour at 9:30, (I was also thinking about treating them to sodas/ice cream at Clinton's), then head over to Pink Hill Park for a picnic lunch and to play.  Afterwards, we will hike some trails at Burr Oak Woods.  If you would like to come, please sign-up below:     https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4DADAB2DA7F58-endoftheyear2

*May 15th is the last day to order your 2025-2026 yearbook.  It is a great keepsake for the school year.  It costs $15.  You can order online at inter-state.com/order.  Our school code is: 0331PD.

*Just a note:  There has been some discussion and questions about Band for next year.  It is exciting for me to see so many kiddos excited about our Band program!  Please know:  Band class is during the school day.  They will have a full lunch and not have to miss any of their lunch period.  They will not miss any core subjects.  It is not a before or after school activity.  If your student is not in Band, they will have a study hall or a review time.  Students will perform in various Chapels, the Veterans Day Program, and the Talent Show.  There is a Christmas Concert and an End-of the Year band concert, which are the only events that are after school hours.

Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
RELIGION- We learned about Paul being on trial and how he was instructed for ministry.  God communicated His Word to the first Christians, both congregations and individuals, through letters written by his apostles and other writers.  His Word still speaks to the Church today.  We will finish up our Religion books next week by learning about the letter to the Colossians and what the book of Revelation shares with us about the new heavens and earth!
MEMORY- (One more...and it's perfect!) 5/12-I am fearfully and wonderfully made. ~Psalms 139:14
LANGUAGE ARTS- We read a story which talked about the negative effects of television, electronics, and noise in a funny story called "The World According to Humphrey."  We had some giggles from this story, which was told in first-person from the point of view of a hamster, but all-in-all learned the importance of spending quality time with family, friends,  and getting exercise.
No spelling next week!

MATH- We spent a week reviewing long division, long multiplcation, and taking summative assessments!  Good news—We have ALL passed our multiplcation tests! Instead of having an ice cream party in the classroom, I thought I would treat this little class to some ice cream sundaes at Harry Truman's first place of employment on the Independence Square, Clinton's.  We could head there after our visit at the Truman Library next Thursday.  Who says you cannot have ice cream before lunch?!  ;)

MISSOURI HISTORY- We challenged each other to memorize all of the fun facts about Missouri, played a Jeopardy game to help, and tested this week!  Try and challenge us at home and see what we remember! ;)  We worked on our Renewable and Non-Renewable Resources Posters.  These will be up for viewing at our museum!

Special Classes:
Art- We learned how to draw Missouri Mules.  These will be on display at our museum.  We also painted your Mother's Day gifts!
Writers' Workshop- We worked on our reports about our famous Missourians and published them!
Music- Students worked on their Spring Concert!
Spanish- The kiddos reviewed all of their Spanish terms with a fun game of Jeopardy!
Upcoming Events:

14-4th Grade's End-of-the-Year field trip to Truman Library and Burr Oak

  • For the Museum-I have met with each kiddo, and they have a plan for what they are going to bring/wear.  Please touch base with them, so we are all on the same page!  Please don't go out and buy anything...Please use old clothes, or borrow, or ask.  I have some that the kids can borrow too!  (Think:  Night at the Museum, when everything comes to life!)  ;)  We have been working on the facts that your famous Missourian will be saying too.  Please urge them to practice this at home, in front of you, in front of a mirror, or to a sibling or pet.  The more they practice, the more confident they will be!  Thank you for your help!

*FRIDAY-Closing Chapel and 12:30 dismissal.  We will have our closing Chapel at 8:45. All are welcome to attend!  Students that participated in special activities this year will be recognized after Chapel (athletics, band, academic team, etc.) Afterwards, we will have some fun class time, as we will have our classroom auction, pass out a special memory book, and I have some personal time planned with the kiddos.  We dismiss at 12:30.
*YEARBOOK ORDERS
A flyer was sent home with a code for ordering your 2024-2025 yearbook.  Books will be distributed next fall.  The cost for each book will be $15.  Orders will be received until May 16th.

*BAND begins next year!  As you know, our 4th graders visited with the Band this week!  They played some songs for us, and we were able to try out different instruments.  The kids were able to ask questions, and they visited with band members.  A note was sent home about our band program, along with some specifics.  (They are also attached, in case that form did not make it home!) Please sign and return this form by May 14th, so Mrs. Wilson, our band director, can make plans for next school year.  Thank you!  We are SO BLESSED to have her here at Timothy!

Here is what we have been up to this week:

RELIGION: We have learned from our series entitled, "Sent Apart to Serve."  We discussed various vocations within church work and had a wonderful demonstration from Pastor Ryan.  He shared about parts of the church, parts of the service, and what the clothing that he wears mean and the stories they tell.  He shared his personal story of how and why he became a pastor.  It was so insightful, and we were able to witness God's Hand in his life!    We also watched several videos of some DCEs, pastors, deaconesses, and teachers, share their stories about why and how they listened to God's Call.  Students are bringing a small book home to keep that talk about these different vocations too.  Please look through this as well.  It is so interesting!  ...and you never know when God might speak into one's life!

We learned:
Who are Our Church Workers?
How Do We Care for Our Church Workers?
How Do We Form a Culture of Church Work?

We also learned about Peter, Cornelius, and Saul (Paul) this week!

Dear Heavenly Father, help us support our church workers.  Lead those whom You are calling into the holy ministry and church-work vocations, equipping them with Your good gifts and guidance.  In Your Son's Name we pray.  Amen.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  This week, we read the story, "The Ever-Living Tree," which documents the life of a sequoia tree, and what was happening elsewhere in the world during its life.  We learned a lot about the redwood forest, which goes hand-in-hand with our Science unit too.  We practiced reading timelines, sequencing a story, and looking at text structure.

MATH: We discussed area and perimeter, and how to interpret a line plot.

SPECIALS:
Art- We had Art Catch Up time—finishing all off all of our projects to show off to YOU!
Music-The kiddos did an amazing job at our Spring Concert!  I am proud of how hard they worked on preparing, reciting, and singing.
P.E.- We spent a lot of time outside this week!
Writers’ Workshop- We worked on our Bio Lap Book Reports and practiced reciting our facts for the Living Museum.
