Third and Fourth Grade News
March 20, 2014
Hello, Parents! This has been a hard week here at Timothy. Thank you for lifting
our leaders up and each other up in prayer this week, as we all mourn
the loss of our Pastor Ted, BUT also that we celebrate that he is with Our
Savior in heaven right now. Won’t he have the most amazing Easter this
year?! Love to you all…
Here is a quick update as to what we have been up to this week:
Report cards came home yesterday!
Be sure to be on the lookout for those!
Religion- We
are discussing the life of Elijah. Friday’s memory will be Monday.
Science-We
studied seeds and dissected some. We read all about mushrooms and fungus.
We will finish this chapter next week.
Handwriting- We
have learned ALL of the lower case cursive letters now.
Math- Third
graders are in the beginning stages of division, and fourth graders have
finished up their chapter about long multiplication and will begin long
division next week! Both groups learned what multiples
were this week, and we reviewed factors and products.
Reading/Spelling- Both
groups had new stories and words this week. We will test over these on
Monday. The next third grade book report will be over a biography book.
Some of the children have already picked theirs out, but I wanted to
share with you, as I did them, that we will have an assigned project for this
one with the 4th grade (April), and we will begin it in class next month.
We will need large size brown paper bags, if you have any extra around
home! Thanks!
St.Patrick’s Day- We learned all about the life of St.
Patrick, as well as had a St. Pat’s Day Dictionary Dg, where we reviewed a lot
of dictionary skills, had a lot of shamrock math, and graphed Lucky Charms
before enjoying them as a snack. :)
Special Classes:
Art-We
finished up our sports scenes, and once they are dry, will be up in the hall!
Writing/Computer- We
worked so much on our “mom” stories. moms, thank you for taking the time
to let your child interview you. I hope it led to some great
conversations!
P.E.- We
played a version of dodgeball called “Cooperative Dodgeball.” We also had
some time outside today. Spring weather is almost here!!!! :)
Music- We
continue to practice our parts and songs for the upcoming musical on April
25th. We practiced on the stage this week! We sound SO good!
Below, are just a few reminders. We have a busy next couple of weeks!
Again, Friday’s memory work, Spelling
test, and Reading test will all be on Monday. We do not have
school tomorrow. The funeral service for
Pastor Ted will be at the North Site at 11:00.
We have an
upcoming all-school field trip to Harvesters next Tuesday, March 25th. We
have been busy collecting canned goods here at school for the last few months,
and now are ready to go and help! We need a lot of helpers! If you,
or a grandparent or an aunt or uncle, are able to help out in anyway, please
let us know. The link to sign-up is below! Thank you!
We also are hosting the Lenten Dinner on March 26th. If you are able to help that evening or contribute baked goods, please sign-up! Thank you! Everyone, please also send in $2.00 per student. ! This will help cover the cost of the food (pizza, etc.) that we will be purchasing to serve. Thank you SO much!
Enrollment is still underway! It's exciting to see our numbers increase. If you haven't gotten your paperwork in, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible!
All oldest siblings came home last week with an informational flyer and order form for Trivia Night tickets.. Trivia Night is our biggest fundraising event of the year and we hope you will all join us! It is always so much fun! Our class will be working on our class art project in the next few weeks. It will be up for auction! Tickets will be available in the school office, following all church worship services beginning March 22 or by sending the order form back to school. Please pay careful attention to the information at the bottom of the order form—advance ticket prices are good only through Friday, April 7 in the school office. We are looking forward to a successful and fun event! We hope to see all of you there!
APRIL SCRIP ORDER—Due to Great Lakes Scrip’s vacation
schedule, Trivia Night, and Easter we will be putting in our April order on Tuesday, April 1, to be sure all plastic gift cards will be
delivered in plenty of time for our event and the holiday. Please make
note of this change if you are planning to place an order for next month for
plastic cards. This is a great time to try out the program if you haven’t
done so in the past—you can even purchase a gift card to donate for our auction
at Trivia Night! Gift cards are always a big hit that evening! If
you’d like to order or review the information, please see our school ministries fundraising page.
