Hello, 4th grade families! We’ve had another GREAT week!
Here are several other announcements:
*FALL FUN FEST is here!
September 14-16
Timothy Lutheran participates in the Fall Fun Fest Parade,
tomorrow, Saturday, September 16th. It is
a great opportunity for us to show a presence in the community.
Please plan to join our school float in the parade. Everyone is welcome! We are #68 in the parade lineup. We can be found in the Freshman Center
parking lot off of Vesper Road in Blue Springs.
Please be there about 9:45-10:00.
* School pictures are Monday, September 17, beginning at
8:30. Order forms came home last
week. You can also order online… Go to
www.inter-state.com/order and use the order code: 32370ZA
*Last year’s yearbooks are in! We will have a signing after Chapel on
Wednesday. If you missed out on
purchasing one last year, Mrs. Anderson has some in the office for sale. Thank you!
*Timothy Lutheran School will be having our second annual
Walk-A-Thon on Friday, September 28, 1:30-2:30 pm. On Wednesday, your child received a
Walk-a-Thon pledge sheet. (There is also
an online giving component on our website!
Check it out!) Proceeds from the
Walk-A-Thon will go towards Timothy’s Playground Expansion Project. We encourage you to ask family members,
neighbors, and friends if they’d like to support your child as they walk to
grow and improve our school. We will
keep track of the number of laps walked for those pledging per lap, or sponsors
may also pledge a set amount, regardless of the number of laps walked. We would love to have you join us!
*Young Rembrandts drawing classes will start up again on
Monday, September 17th , and
we have ALL NEW LESSONS.
Class time: 3:30 -4:30 pm.

*MID-QUARTER REPORTS COME HOME FRIDAY - these are the
“informal” reports we send home halfway through every quarter. While you may already know what your child’s
scores look like, this is a good time for teachers to provide some insight to
parents on successes- or struggles-to-date.
We would like these forms signed and returned as soon as possible.
Here is what we have been up to this week:
Religion- We finished up our Book of Blessings, and
discussed Abraham and Lot. We discussed
peaceful ways to resolve conflict! I am
SO very proud of the kiddos…They were able to recite ALL of their Old Testament
books today!
Memory for next week:
September 18-
The New Testament
Matthew
Mark
Luke
John
Acts
Romans
1 & 2 Corinthians
September 21-
Galatians
Ephesians
Philippians
Colossians
1 & 2 Thessalonians
1 & 2 Timothy
Titus
Philemon
Language Arts- We began Literature Circles this week
by reading the first two chapters of Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. I have loved hearing the students meet with
their groups and read out loud with such expression! They each had their “job” this week, and have
become experts at asking each other questions, finding vocabulary words,
checking for understanding. They are
really enjoying Literature Circles! We
will continue reading all about Peter and Fudge next week!
Spelling Words for the Week of September 21st:
Chapters 5-6 of Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing
Innocent, dashed, measure, strand, manage, traffic, ruin,
flung, sparkle, impossible
Challenge Word: concoction
Math- This week, we tested over Chapter 1, and then
began reviewing addition and subtraction properties and patterns.
Social Studies- On Tuesday, we discussed September
11, 2001. We shared a couple of books,
watched a video, and also had some amazing discussions and prayers! We also talked about how God loves us, how He
is in charge, and how nothing can ever separate us from His LOVE. We used the verse below for inspiration to
some art work.
For I am sure that
neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to
come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will
be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. ~Romans 8: 37-38
Below is the video if you choose to watch it with your
child. Many of them had questions that I
tried to answer in the best way possible, but I am sure they will have many
more for you! Thank you so much for your
partnership!
We are also learning so much more about Missouri! This week, we studied the seal and the flag,
and learned about the state insect, the state bird, and the state flower. The students each designed a classroom flag
with a seal, and we voted on our favorite for a class this year! Drum roll, please….. Laney was our WINNER! She will design a flag to be displayed in the
classroom for the entire year. Yay, 4th
graders! Please help your child remember
that interviews are due next Monday, September 17th. Your child needs to interview a Missourian,
preferably someone older than themselves.
They have the questionnaire with all the topics, and have practiced a
bit at school. They can interview you, a
grandparent, a neighbor, or a friend, over the phone or in person...just
someone who has resided or still resides in Missouri. :) We
will learn so much from these interviews--I am excited!
We have finished Chapter 1, and will review this chapter
next week, as well as play some well-loved Missouri Jeopardy! Their test will be Monday, September 24th.
SPECIAL CLASSES

of our room!
