Here are a few announcements:
*As a reminder, Friday Folders will come home this
afternoon filled with graded work.
Please empty these and return the folder on Monday. Anything with a letter grade can be “redone”
for half credit per answer, and turned back in on Tuesday. So far, everybody is doing very well and
working very hard!
*FALL FUN FEST is coming up! September 14-16
Timothy Lutheran participates in the Fall Fun Fest Parade, on Saturday, September 16th. It is a great opportunity for us to show a presence in the community.
Please plan to join our school float in the parade. Everyone is welcome! We are #68 in the parade lineup. We can be found in the Freshman Center parking lot off of Vesper Road in Blue Springs. Please be there about 10:00.
* School pictures are Monday, September 17, beginning at
8:30. A picture order form is coming
home today.
*Timothy Lutheran School will be having our second annual Walk-A-Thon
on Friday, September 28, 1:30-2:30 pm.
Last year, raised over $6,000 for Lutheran South Academy in Texas, as
they recovered from the effects of Hurricane Harvey. This year, we will help improve our own
backyard. Proceeds from the Walk-A-Thon
will go towards Timothy’s Playground Expansion Project. Timothy Lutheran School is growing. We have added two preschool classes to our
school campus. We hope to add more in
the coming years. Currently, our
playground is not equipped to accommodate preschool children. We are also in need of additional equipment
for elementary school students. Please
help us reach our goal, allowing us to provide a safe, fully equipped
elementary and early childhood playground for our students.
Next week, your student will receive a Walk-a-Thon pledge
sheet. We encourage you to ask family
members, neighbors, and friends if they’d like to support your child as they
walk to grow and improve our school. We
will keep track of the number of laps walked for those pledging per lap, or
sponsors may also pledge a set amount, regardless of the number of laps
walked. Parent volunteers help make this
event possible. A Sign-Up Genius will be
shared next week. We would love to have
you join us!
*Young Rembrandts drawing classes will start up again on
September 17 and we have ALL NEW LESSONS.
We have two sessions scheduled for this fall. Class time: 3:30 -4:30 pm (right after

Here is what we have been up to this week:
Religion- We talked a lot about our blessings, and
are working on our ABC Book of Blessings.
Memory for next week:

Micah
Nahum
Habakkuk
Zephaniah
Haggai
Zechariah
Malachi
September 14-Recite all of the OT books
Language Arts- We read the super-fun story “Once Upon
a Cool Motorcycle Dude.” This is what is
called a fractured fairy tale, which is based on old fairytales, but changed
up! The kids LOVED this story! There was a lot of laughter in here! We also reviewed how to write complete
sentences, making sure it had a noun, verb, and was a complete thought. We talked about how to write sentences in 4th
grade style, with more detail. Next
week, we will begin Literature Circles!
As a class, we are going to read Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. There will not be a reading test on this
until September 15th. However, there
will be a spelling test both Fridays, (8th and 15th) over common words found in
the story. We are excited!
Spelling Words for the Week of September 14:
Chapters 1-4 of Tales of the Fourth Grade Nothing
announced, stomach, reptiles, hollered, slurping, accident, brilliant, mugged, imitate, ceiling
Math- This week, we worked with ordering numbers,
using place value to round, and solving word problems. Next week, we will finish up this chapter,
and will begin reviewing adding and subtracting whole numbers. Please continue to work on your child’s math
facts at home! Flash cards are the
best!
Social Studies- We are learning so much about our
amazing state! The students had their
first homework assignment given to them today--and it’s a fun one! Your child is to interview a Missourian, preferably
someone older than themselves. They have
the questionnaire with all the topics, and have practiced a bit at school. They can interview you, a grandparent, a
neighbor, or a friend, over the phone or in person...just someone who has
resided or still resides in Missouri.
:) We will learn so much from
these interviews--I am excited! They are
due on Monday, September 17th.
SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- We studied primary, secondary, and tertiary
colors, created a color wheel with tempera paint, and then began an Impressionistic
style horizon picture. We will continue
these on Tuesday.
Writing- We wrote Bio-Poems…poems all about us! We will begin publishing these next week in
the computer lab. Students will get used
to working with Google Docs.
P.E.-This week we worked on volleyball skills—passing
and serving. We will put these skills
together next week for some fun drills and game situations!
It was another fun week in 4th Grade Land! All of the students are working hard and
having fun!
