It's Friday Again?!

Hello, Parents!  It has been a fun and busy, busy week!

There are some super-fun events coming up:
Other fun events:
*Our 6/7/8 grade volleyball team has qualified for State, and we head out today at 3:00!!  If you’re free, come out to Concordia, MO and support our Rams.  Our first game is 8:00 am tomorrow morning.  :)

*We have a very special morning coming up - Donuts with Dad!  The morning of Wednesday, November 7, come to school between 7:45-8:20 for breakfast with a special guest!  (Bring dad, grandpa, or the guest of your choice!)  In addition to donuts, coffee, and milk, teachers will have an activity for students to complete with their special guests.  This is not a mandatory event for your child to attend, but it’s awfully fun to make memories together and start our Wednesday off on a fun note!  We hope to see you there!  (Guests are also more than welcome to stay for chapel at 9:00!)

*Friday, November 9, is also a very important day.  We will be holding a Veterans Day Celebration here at the school that morning, beginning at 9 a.m.  Kids—please wear your Real. Present. God. T-shirts that Pastor Rod so generously gave us at the beginning of the school year.  Thank you!  If you want to invite grandparents, aunts, uncles, other family, and of course, any veterans you know and love, we’d love to have you here!!  Students will be singing songs and participating in this program to honor our nation’s veterans.

*TLS AUCTION – TIMOPOLY  is quickly approaching!!  Set your calendars for Saturday, November 10 and join us for some fun!  There are many ways to support Timothy Lutheran School’s auction.  This is our largest fundraiser of the year and provides vital funding for our school.  Check out our website for detailed information, to make a donation, or to purchase tickets head to  www.timothylutheranschool.com.

Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
Religion-We finished up learning about Martin Luther this week.  The students each wrote an essay about him, and I was amazed at all they had learned.  They asked me to attach the YouTube video with the and we have been singing nonstop.  You’re welcome!  ;) We also got back to work in our Religion books and are learning about the Promised Land, Joshua, and Caleb.

Next Week’s Memory:
November 6-but honor them, serve and obey them, love and cherish them.

November 9-THE FIFTH COMMANDMENT
You shall not murder.  What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not hurt or harm our neighbor in his body, but help and support him in every physical need.

Language Arts:   We began the book Dear Mr. Henshaw in class!  This is a really unique story that is told by a set of letters.  We have had some good discussions in here as the students are learning how to empathize with the main character.  I love it!  We will continue reading this book next week.  We share book reports this week, and received information for our next one, which will be based on a fantasy/science fiction book.

Spelling words for Friday, November 9th:  (Taken from “Dear Mr. Henshaw” by Beverly Cleary)
urgent, disgusted, rig, nuisance, tourists, wrath, scowls, villains, demonstration, imitate, *sinuous

Math- We are learning about how to multiply three numbers, and how to find factors and multiples.  We have learned something too:  Math is fun!!!  Please keep practicing those facts at home!
