I don't know about you, but I kind of feel like I am in the movie "Groundhog Day!" ;) Each day is a bit different, but kind of the same. I have been running every morning, which has been wonderful. I treasure that time, because it is when I talk to God, out in nature. I am getting in better shape too, so that is a plus. After that, I come back and work on lesson plans, make videos, grade, answer questions, FaceTime with kids, and try to keep up on those tasks. My whole household is learning and working. I have two step-kids in college, who are home, and have their "offices" in their bedrooms. Alissa is a TA this year too, so she has her own class to teach and help. Konrad is majoring in the theater, so he is constantly making videos of himself to submit. Jeff works from his home office everyday. He has always done this, but he has also traveled quite a bit, and that part is at a standstill for him. He now conducts meetings on Zoom. :) My girls, Annabel and Emma, an 8th grader and a senior, have their own bedroom offices too. We are all busy, and there have been a lot of adjustments. I am proud how we are leaning on each other, leaning on God, and just "going with the flow." I am an "outdoors girl" too, so we have been spending plenty evenings out and about in our yard. :) I just miss your kids SO VERY MUCH!
Please send pictures of them working, or playing, or posing. I would just love to see them.
Next week, I will have lessons for Monday-Wedensday. We would normally have a half day of school on Maundy Thursday, but I don't think that is necessary! ;) My plan is to have regular Religion, some MO History, and some fun math. To make it more of a fun week, I have a cool art project that everyone will enjoy and several writing projects. There will not be spelling or reading. I realized after grading, that I need to work more with the kiddos on quotation marks, so I will discard that assignment, and teach it again soon... Next week, will definitely be an easier week for the kids. As always, please send me your feedback. I want to keep them busy learning new things, but I don't want any of it to be overwhelming.
Please be on the lookout for these things next week:
*Update on our Flat People
*Update on Famous Missourian project
*Update on Science Fair
I feel moved to share these videos with you. Normally, I have introduced the Skit Guys to my class by this time every year...Have you heard of them? I first "met" them when I was at a national teacher convention about 10 years ago. Since then, they have been at both of the National Youth Conventions that I have helped take our church youth to. They are amazing actors, comedians, and men of God. I have given you the YouTube links to several of their skits below. When you have time, please watch and see if it is something you'd like to share with your family. Some are geared toward a more mature audience (nothing inappropriate at all), but often times the discussions we get into at the 3rd/4th grade level, do become mature conversations as we talk about faith, about life, about the future... This is definitely my favorite age!
