I would like to schedule another Zoom meeting for next week. Just being able to visit with the kiddos brings such a highlight to my week! I have had several requests to have different times of day, so next week's will be on Wednesday (5/6) at 3:00. I hope this works for most of you!
We officially have 2 weeks left of school. Normally, at this time of year, teachers are planning our fun weeks of TimOlympics, we have Fun Day on the calendar, and I have scheduled our Missouri History Living Museum and our final field trip, where I take the kids to see famous Missouri sites (usually Truman Library, Fort Osage, and Missouri Town). We have a classroom auction, make a memory book, and have some fun getting our room ready for next year's kids... This truly is such a bummer, but I know that the silver-lining is that they are home with you and safe... :)
In any case, I have been racking my brain and all of my creative juices to come up with something to make the last few weeks of school fun and memorable for the kids. I have come up with something, but I don't know how much fun they will actually think it will be! ;) I have some fun activities planned for the last 5 day so the school year. Not next week, but the following one... This afternoon, I will be heading to school to make up packets for the last two weeks, and I will have all of the supplies in there.
So, please bear with me, and I will explain what the next two weeks will look like: ;)
Next week, will be as normal as can be, considering the kiddos are doing at-home learning! We will have regular Religion, will finish up our Harry Truman book, and will take our last spelling test. We will continue with math and science. Ion Monday, I will give directions for the oral report that I would like the kids to do for their Famous Missourian. This will just be due before the last day of school. If you are comfortable with it, I will find a way to share this with the whole school and/or congregation. If you are not comfortable with that, please just let me know! I completely understand.
The last week of school, we will have regular Religion. Third graders will finish up Chapter 11 in Math and fourth graders will finish up Chapter 10. We will not have regular reading and spelling. We will finish up Science on Wednesday. In lieu of Language Arts that week, I will have a theme for the day, with a fun snack that I will be putting in your packets. (I will wear gloves and a mask while preparing!) There will be fun, learning activities that go with each theme. :)
This will be us for you to know...as I will be sharing with the kids during my morning message each day:
Monday:A Burst of Summer Sunshine
Tuesday:A Pile of Picnic Puffs
Wednesday:A Bunch of Beach Floats
Thursday:A Bag of Reading Bookworms
Friday: O"fish"ially 4th or 5th grade status!
It is goofy, but I am hoping it is fun. I borrowed ideas from teachers I found online and have revamped the ideas for our class and our situation, in hopes that it gives a little extra "umph" to that last week of school!
Thank you, again, for all of your support, guidance, and prayers. We truly are a wonderful team! THANK YOU for the pictures you send of your kids. They keep my head and heart up!
***I will plan to have packets completed by tonight, so that they will be ready for pick-up on Monday. The kids have all they need already for their lessons on Monday, so there is no need to come Monday morning, if you cannot. The building will be open from 9:00-4:00. I will have packets and all the items they left at school on the tables outside the school hallway. If you would like for me to bring the packet/items by your home, I would be more than happy to do so. Please just let me know! (The school will be open the next two weeks to pick up items and drop off books.) THANK YOU!
God's blessings,
Kim
