THANK YOU for giving me SO MUCH grace as we figure this out together.
THANK YOU for tirelessly giving of your time and talents.
THANK YOU for lifting your students and their teacher up in prayer.
THANK YOU for entrusting me with your child's education.
THANK YOU for being my team player, my right-hand person, and my co-teacher for the last 42 school days.
THANK YOU for sending your child to a Christian school where we can share about Jesus EVERYDAY.
THANK YOU for choosing Timothy, so I can call your child one of my own.
THANK YOU for being amazing role models of adults who go with the flow, yet keep your eyes set on what is Above.
THANK YOU for teaching your child stay true to who they are, but to also remember and cherish WHOSE they are.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for sharing your child with me. It has been an absolute honor to be their teacher and to work alongside you.
Love,
Kim
I wrote the above poem last night before I went to sleep. I have been such a range of emotions these last few days, but I want you to know how much I treasure you, and treasure your kiddos, and treasure this time. I was a blubbering mess in my videos today and during our last Zoom meeting a few minutes ago. The strongest of my love languages is "touch." It is who I am. I often struggle with words, as I am such an introvert, but I am reassured and strengthened with hugs. So, not being able to be "with" your child every day has been the toughest part of this for me. Please give them an AMAZING, HUGE hug for and from me, please. I have reminded them that I will always be here for them, no matter how old and sassy and mature and cool they get. I mean it.
I will be sending you a Google Slide with everyone's Famous Missourians speeches. Be on the lookout for this. Grade cards will be sent via email next week. I will also be mailing out a hard copy. If you have not done so already, please being your child's textbooks and school-owned chapter books up to school and drop them off.
Here are the things that your child will need to return: (Thank you, Erin Reese!)
-MO History book
-Science book
-Reading book
-Harry S. Truman book
-famous Missourian book
-any library or classroom chapter books that were borrowed
I think that is it!
Thank you!
Every school year, on the last day of school, I have some traditions... We sing Brothers and Sisters in Christ. The words are powerful and true. Luckily, I had recorded our class singing this earlier in the school year, so I posted it for the kids today. I attached it to this letter. It is beautiful. We always read together a classroom book and poem. For those of you that were able to come to the parade, I gave this book to your kiddo. For the rest of you, I will mail it to you when I mail out report cards. The poem is attached to this email. I will send a copy of this to you too. We always open our Time Capsule that we created the first day of school. I forgot to unpack this as I gathered all of your child's belongings a couple of weeks ago. The kids voted this morning for me to open it next week when I am school for meetings, and I will either mail the contents to you, or you can get it when you drop off books. Thanks!
On that note, to my friends that are moving on... Personally, as a proud product of Lutheran elementary school, please know that these years at Timothy will ALWAYS be with your child. We are a family, a family of believers, and that never goes away. My relationships that I STILL have with the kids (grown adults now!) that I attended grade school with is a bond that I don't feel with anyone else, really. It is a shared bond with the Holy Spirit. You and your kiddos always have a home here...and as I talked to the children about in today's Religion lesson, the CHURCH, is not a place, it is a people! You are loved, cherished, lifted up, and always prayed for. Please know that and ALWAYS remember it!
Have a beautiful, blessed summer. Please keep in touch!
Blessings,
Kim
