Hello! We have had a great second week of school! We have been super-busy as we have transitioned into all the core classes, as well as beginning Specials!
(Addie and Mackenzie joined us this week! Yay!)
* Picture Day is 09/03/2020, mark your calendar! This year, we can ONLY ORDER ONLINE. Ordering online is easy, visit inter-state.com/FlyerEntry/52178XF. A flyer is coming home today.
*Young Rembrandts (our after school art program) will begin soon! Please see the attached flyer. Thank you!
*As a reminder, Homework Folders will come home this afternoon filled with graded work. Please empty these and return the folder on Monday. If work is a C or below, it can be “redone” for half credit per answer, and turned back in when they return to school the next week. So far, everybody is doing very well and working very hard!
*If you have not already sent in your signed paper that you read the Parent Handbook, please do so. (This is the last page of the handbook.) Thank you!
Religion- This week, we learned that the Bible is God’s Words to us, and to be used by us. We discussed what it means to be a Christian and our job to share the Good News with all that we meet. We discussed God’s love for us by sharing the story of the Prodigal Son. God is Good ALL the time, and ALL the time, God is Good!
*Students are bringing home a friend’s prayer today to pray for that friend this weekend!
9/1-Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by
name, and you are Mine. ~Isaiah 43:1

Language Arts- We read our first story from our reading basals! Third graders read “A Fine, Fine School” and fourth graders read one of the chapters from “Because of Winn Dixie.” They loved these stories! This week we analyzed the characters, wrote summaries of the stories, and studied the new vocabulary words. We took our first reading and spelling tests today and the students did very well! We also learned the cursive letters h and k.
The students also received information about their first book reports. They have each picked out a Mystery (3rd) or a Newbery Award winning (4th) book to read, and understand their projects. This information should be in their homework folders.
