Hi! I hope this note finds you well! It was a great week here in 3rd/4th grade!
Important information:
*Our second quarter mission project is Operation Christmas
Child! Boxes went home with the oldest child in each family. We watched this beautiful video today if you
would like to view it also. Thank
you!

*Please save THIS Saturday, November 14th at 8:30, as “The Mulch Day.” Our playgrounds are complete and this is the FINAL step! We will be able to play on them on MONDAY!
*If you know of someone who would like to see yesterday’s Veteran’s Day program but does not have Facebook, here is the link to the program on our website: https://timothylutheranschool.com/2020-veterans-day-program/
*I would like to move our classroom Thanksgiving Feast to Monday, November 23rd. I just heard that Ms. Shirley is fixing a good ol’ Thanksgiving lunch for the entire school on Tuesday. (Please make sure you sign your kiddo up for that lunch!) I don’t want third and fourth graders to miss out on that, so we will feast two days in a row. Ms. Shirley is a wonderful cook and it will be fun to celebrate with the entire school. :)
Here is the class sign-up for Monday in case you missed it. (I changed the date!)

Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
Religion- This week, we have been learning about
Jesus being true man and true God. We
discussed characteristics of Him and His many beautiful names. This week in Chapel, Timothy’s senior high
youth leader, Ryan Kuecker, came and gave the message, which tied in
beautifully with this! We are SO
blessed to have him!
11/17-THE THIRD COMMANDMENT
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
11/20-What does this mean?
We should fear and love God so that we do not despise preaching and His
Word, but hold it sacred and gladly hear and learn it.
Reading- This week, both groups read biographies! Third graders read about a young Thomas Edison and fourth graders read about the dancer Jose Limon. They were great, inspirational stories. Next week, we will have an all-class unit on the first Thanksgiving. Also, we finished up the first book by our author of the month, Kate DiCamillo, entitled, “The Tale of Despereaux.” The kiddos LOVED this story (and so did I)! It was captivating until the very end. :)
Spelling Words for Friday, November 20th: (both 3rd/4th)
Plymouth, Thanksgiving, Pilgrims, compact, Mayflower,
pumpkin, barter, America, holiday, settlement, Challenge Word: *Wampanoag
Math-Third graders began multiplication this week! We learned how to use repeated addition and arrays to solve. We also have begun taking multiplication mad minutes and have learned how to use a multiplication chart. PLEASE begin working with your kiddo on memorizing facts. I have told them that wok only gets harder, and the more you memorize, the easier it will be! They are excited! ;) Fourth graders tested over Chapter 3 in math, and did very well. They also began multiplying numbers by 10s, 100s, and 1000s.
Science-This week, we discussed cells and organisms, as well as becoming scientists and taking a trip outside to study the living and nonliving things we could find in a one meter square. We discovered things like roly-polies, crickets, beautiful rocks, and acorns. It was fun!
SPECIAL CLASSES
Art-We made self-portraits of ourselves in the
future. I love seeing what each kiddo
hopes and dreams for! We used pencils,
watercolors, and marking pens. We will
continue this work next week.
Writing-The students wrote silly stories about some
pictures that I placed on the Smart Board.
They had 20 minutes to write anything that popped into their minds. It was awesome to see what they came up
with! We shared these in Readers’
Theatre.
Computer Lab-We are busy publishing our works.
Music- We are practicing our Christmas songs!
P.E. – This week, we played Pac-Man tag and Tunnel
Tag again!
Spanish-Students learned how to say family member
names.
May God bless your weekend,
Kim
