Hi, 3rd and 4th grade parents! It’s been another fun, busy week! :)
Important information:
*Our Christmas Program is December 16th at 5:30 in the
school auditorium. It is during
Timothy’s Advent Service. Only the
5th-8th grade will be presenting live.
The entire school recorded our songs yesterday, and they are
beautiful! Although it is a different
way of proclaiming our faith and love for our Savior, it still has such a great
impact! I am proud of the kiddos and
their hard work! THANK YOU, Ms. MacLean
for teaching, instructing, and sharing with us!
*We are going to have a classroom Polar Express party on
Tuesday, December 22nd.
:) This is one of my favorite 3rd/4th
grade traditions! Students can wear
their pajamas to school, and bring one pillow and/or a blanket. We will spread the desks apart, and watch the
movie! Shhh…as a surprise, I am bringing
mugs, hot chocolate, marshmallows, and candy canes to enjoy during that awesome
“hot chocolate” scene! Please also have
your child wear/bring tennis shoes that day, as we will take a break to have
some recess. Thank you!
Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
Religion- We have been dissecting and learning about
the parts of the Lord’s Prayer. This
week we talked about how God’s name is Hallowed (holy) and to be revered, as
well as how His kingdom is coming, here on earth, as well as in heaven! We discussed ways we can help His kingdom
grow. Today we discussed God's Will. He is God, and we are not! We reviewed the story of Elijah
and the prophets of Baal, as well as the New Testament story of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Memory for next week:
12/15- THE EIGHTH COMMANDMENT
You shall not give false testimony against your
neighbor. What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not
tell lies about our neighbor,
12/18- betray him, slander him, or hurt his reputation, but
defend him, speak well of him, and explain everything in the kindest way.
Language Arts-This week, we read a story about a
science fair and a historical fiction story about the San Francisco earthquake
of 1906. We also learned about idioms
and completed several fun activities with them! We learned cursive v and x this week.
Spelling Words for next week, December 18th:
We are all going to read the book “The Best Christmas
Pageant Ever,” by Barbara Robinson.
3rd grade words-manger, vain, barge, villain,
hymn, hustle, cross, urn, retire, pageant, *vengeance
4th grade words-ancestor, congregation,
interrupt, truant, imitation, colic, bewildered, hysterical, pageant,

Math- Third graders are working on relating
multiplication to subtraction and to division.
We reviewed fact families. Fourth grade is learning how to multiply
using two and three digit numbers, and solving problems with variables. Today we played Beat the Clock, Division
Squares, and some grid math.
SPECIAL CLASSES
Art-This week, we finished up our paintings of “The
Night Before Christmas.” We also worked

laptops.
