Hi, 4th Grade Families!
It has been a wonderful and beautiful week!
*Please mark your calendars for Timothy’s breakfast and
Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 23. Breakfast starts at 9:30. Egg hunt,
Capture the Egg, and other activities begin at 10:30. Bring your baskets!
*Next week, we will only have school Monday-Wednesday. We will be taking Maundy Thursday, Good
Friday, and Easter Monday off to celebrate Easter and our Resurrected
Savior! Have a beautiful time with your
families. :)
* We have a gift for all of you – RightNow Media! This has been offered to TLS families for a
few years, but you may not have been aware of this opportunity. TLS is always
looking for creative ways to serve and support our parents and encourage family
discipleship at home. One helpful resource we have available is called RightNow
Media. It's essentially the "Netflix of Video Bible Studies" because
you will have instant access to thousands of great videos for students, kids,
families, parents, and more. You can view these videos directly from your
phone, tablet, or computer. And you can also watch on all your favorite apps
like AppleTV, Roku, and Amazon Firestick!
You can click the link here www.rightnowmedia.org/Account/Invite/TimothyLutheranSchool
to get FREE access to this library. Once you've filled out the information, you
will have more than 25,000 videos Bible studies, leadership videos, and
resources on parenting, marriage, discipleship, and more all at your
fingertips.
*Homework—Please be checking Sycamore so your child has that
reminder of what homework he or she has yet to turn in. This will help keep them up-to-date, and not
in a rush at the end of the quarter. I
remind them at school often as well. I
am often told that the assignment is at home. THANK YOU so much for your help
with this!
*SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS- (4th-6th grades) We are headed to the
School of Economics on Monday, April 15th, and we are SO excited for this
trip! We started preparing this week
already! As many of you know, interviews
were yesterday. Your child will find out
next week what job he or she will have.
We will be meeting with the other 4th grade, and the 5th and
6th graders twice a week, (Tuesdays and Thursdays), learning skills such as
making a budget, buying supplies, understanding supply/demand, writing checks,
selling goods, working cooperatively, HAVING A TON OF FUN, and much more! It takes a lot of work in class to make this
special day flow, and we are getting ready!
In the past years, we have had to share the space with another school,
but with our numbers this year, we will have the whole town to ourselves!
We will need some of you to help that day! We will need exactly NINETEEN parent
volunteers for this trip. Parent help is needed ALL DAY, but space is limited,
so slots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. They don’t let any
other parents in the building that day, except these NINETEEN volunteers for
our school. Thank you so much for your
help!! These parents will have training at the School of Economics at 8:45,
the day of our visit. We will meet
them there, which also means we need some parents that will only be able to
drive us there and drop us off. We
will need to leave school no later than 9:10.
Here is the link to sign-up to help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4DADAB2DA7F58-school#/
We will also be sending home a paper copy permission slip
that all students have to have in order to attend. These will be in folders today!
Other important information is below:
-The cost for you for this field trip is $5. A generous
donor is covering the other $10 per student.
($15 total) We are so THANKFUL!
Please send this $5 to school. (There is no cost for parents.)
-Students will NOT need to pack a lunch, as this fee
includes food for them. **If your child has food allergies and would rather
bring in their own food out of safety concerns, that is preferred - please
speak with your child's teacher.
(Volunteers do NOT need to pay the fee, but your lunch is included,
too.)
-Our day ends there at 1:30, so we should return to school
about 2:00.
-If you want to help, but all the spots are taken, please
contact your child's teacher, and we'll put you on a "will-call" list
in the case that another parent has to back out. Thank you in advance for your
help!! Please let me know if you have
any questions.
Date: 4/15/24 (Monday)
Time: 9:00am - 1:30pm
Location: School of Economics, 200 NW 14 St, Blue Springs,
MO 64015
Here are updates about our classroom:
RELIGION: We have
learned the stories of Jesus Feeding the Crowd and Jesus Walking on Water. We talked about how we have “storms and
winds” in our own lives that we might encounter, and how we should tackle these
things with the help of Scripture and the help of our Loving God. We discussed the words omnipotent,
omniscient, and omnipresent and how these attributes of God apply to
our lives.
MEMORY for next week:
3/26-”Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right
spirit within me.” ~Psalm 51:10
LANGUAGE ARTS: We reviewed the story, “The Very Important
Day,” which correlated directly to our School of Economics unit. We discussed the many families in the story,
what countries they came from, and more details about them. We worked with possessive and apostrophes
this week, as well as cause and effect, and chronological order. We learned
about Ellis Island and citizenship!
March book reports are due on Wednesday.
Thank you!
There will not be SPELLING words next week!
COMPUTER: We took our
Computer time this week to research famous Missourians and to publish our
paragraphs.
MATH: This week, we have been learning how to subtract mixed
numbers, and how to make them into improper fractions to solve, and then place
them back into mixed numbers. Today we
solved word problems with mixed numbers and reviewed the chapter. You will see some graded math work come home
this week, that may be poorer in quality.
Please have your child redo these for full credit. The more they practice these skills and learn
to check their work, the better they will be.
This will help them be ready for their test on Monday. Thank you for your help.
MISSOURI HISTORY: We
have read about several famous Missourians and their contributions to the
world. We discussed the music, art, and
sports that have come from Missouri, and how these have helped shape who we
are. We read a special highlight on St.
Louis, and learned that Kansas City is Missouri’s most populated area. We also learned how to read Population
Maps. :)
We will review over this chapter and have a short quiz over it next
week.
SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS: We learned all about the School of
Economics and completed job interviews!
We also heard our mayor, Colton Erisman, give a nice speech! Students will be given their job assignments
next week and we will begin working in shops!
SPECIALS--
ART: We studied the
famous artist, Georgia O’Keeffe, and studied some of her work, namely her
beautiful pictures of flowers. We used
her artwork as an inspiration to draw and watercolor flowers of our own. We will finish these next week.
WRITING: We had three
writing assignments about "The Very Important Day." We went through the writing process and
published these too!
P.E.: We practiced track and field events this week—the long
jump and we walked the 800 meter race.
MUSIC: Students are
working on songs for the Spring Musical.
Yours in Christ,
Kim
