Dear 4th Grade Parents,
Happy October! We have had a great, short week! Just a reminder that we get out of school today at 12:30, and do not have school tomorrow or Friday. Teachers are heading to St. Louis for our LEA training, fellowship, and worship!

I have reserved 20 seats in all for us. :) Here is the sign-up to come with us!

Here is what we have been up to this week:
RELIGION- We have begun a new unit where we are studying some of God’s chosen leaders. We talked about Deborah, Barak, and Ruth. This has been enlightening because we are discussing respecting authority and how to strengthen our personal character as we talk about life circumstances and how we react in them. We are seeing God at work in our lives, and with this are learning how to live our lives of faith. Today, we talked about scenarios where we are called to serve.
MEMORY:
10/7-The old evil foe
Now means deadly woe;
Deep guile and great might
Are his dread arms in fight;
On earth is not his equal.
10/10- Luther’s Morning Prayer:
I thank You, my Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger;
SPELLING WORDS for the Week of October 10th:
Story: Once Upon a Cool Motorcycle Dude
bunch, fruit, argue, crumb, crew, tune, juice, refuse, truth, young, clue, trunk, amuse, suit, rude, trust, dew, stuck, rescue, brush, computer, mustard
Challenge Word: horrendous
MATH- This week, we finished up Chapter 3, where we reviewed some tough stuff---regrouping, solving multi-step words problems with addition and subtraction, as well as using some variables with algebra! We finished up 4's in mad minutes, and have begun 5's.
SPECIAL CLASSES
ART- We talked about taking our line knowledge that we learned last week and turned them into a composition drawing. We created a still-life, using everyday items from our classroom. We used “viewfinders” and chose a certain view of our still-life, drew it, and painted it using primary colors, and mixing the secondary and tertiary colors we needed. They are beautiful!
MUSIC- During music class, we have been practicing songs for the Veterans' Day Program and for our Advent Service.
P.E.- We introduced dodgeball yesterday!
SPANISH- Mr. Murray taught the kiddos how to play Uno in Spanish, using only Spanish words! How fun!
We shared Book Reports this week!
Have a LONG, blessed weekend!
Kim
