Hello, 4th Grade Family!
*3rd Quarter report cards are coming home today. Please check for them in your child's Homework Folder!
*Happy Birthday today to Wylin and Mrs. Heisel!
Upcoming Events:
*Please mark your calendars! Palm Sunday is March 28th. Students, K-5th, will be singing at the beginning of both services (9 am and 10:30 am). Please plan to bring your kiddo to sing his or her praises to the Lord! We have been working SO hard!
*We are headed to the School of Economics on Tuesday, March 31st! We have all of our parent volunteers for that day but are still in need of some parents to drop us off that morning. We will need to leave school at 9:10, and then some of the parents that are volunteering to work and go through training that day will take us back to school afterwards.

Other important information:
-A paper copy permission slip came home last week. Please sign and return this form.
-There is not a cost for you, as you paid for this field trip in your enrichment fees this fall.
-Students will NOT need to pack a lunch, as they will be making their own lunches that day. **If your child has food allergies and would rather bring in their own food out of safety concerns, that is preferred - please speak with your child's teacher. (Volunteers will be given School of Economics money that day to buy lunch too!)
-Our day ends there at 1:30, so we should return to school about 2:00.
-If you want to help, but all the spots are taken, please contact your child's teacher, and we'll put you on a "will-call" list in the case that another parent has to back out. Thank you in advance for your help! Please let me know if you have any questions.
Date: 3/31/26 (Tuesday)
Time: 9:00am - 1:30pm
Location: School of Economics, 200 NW 14 St, Blue Springs, MO 64015
***Attached in a handout about our Spring music program t-shirt, thanks to Pastor Rod Lindemann. He took the words to our song "Yahweh" (50 names of Jesus Christ ) and designed it. ❤️✝💛 If you have not already, please let us know the size your child needs. Thank you.
(There is no cost for the students' shirts; our music fund will cover the cost.) 👏 If anyone other than our students would like to order a shirt, the cost is $4 each for Youth and S-XL. ($7 is the cost for XXL and larger.) This is all indicated on the attached form.
Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
RELIGION- We have learned about the Transfiguration, when Jesus healed a widow's son, and Palm Sunday. This begins our lessons about Holy Week! We are so thankful that we have a God that spoils us with His riches and His gifts! We prayed prayers of Thanksgiving today, thanking Him for blessings-big and small! We also discussed the story of St. Patrick and what was true and what is legend.
MEMORY-3/24-The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. ~Exodus 14:14
3/27-The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray. ~Proverbs 12:26
LANGUAGE ARTS- We finished up Ramona and Her Father this week! We discussed character development, created a timeline of events, worked on sequencing, and plotted the story. Some of us really have learned to love Beverly Cleary and have checked out her books from our classroom library. Please remind your kiddo that March book reports (nonfiction) are due March 30th. Thank you!
SPELLING WORDS for Friday, March 27th: Story: A Very Important Day : horse, chore, firm, learn, dirty, curve, world, pure, board, course, heard, return, cure, score, worm, thirteen, worn, curl, shirt, search; Challenge Word: omniscient
MATH- We are measuring like crazy in here! We have learned how to measure length and capacity using both the standard and metric systems. We have worked with time and money this week as well. Our mad minutes are crazy mad! Many have passed their final test and are looking forward to an ice cream party this Spring! Please keep practicing those flash cards in the car and at home when you can. :)
SCIENCE- This week, we had some intriguing lessons about butterflies vs. moths, about the parts of insects, and about complete and incomplete metamorphosis. Today, we made glasses that emulate an insect's complex eye.
SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS- This week we met as shops and priced our items to sell. We had to keep in mind that we needed to price our items to pay of our loans and make a profit. We also finished up shop signs and advertisement posters!
Special Classes:
Art- We studied the artists Norman Rockwell and Mary Engelbreit (a famous Missourian from St. Louis!) and how a lot of their artwork depicts families in their happiest moments. Students then drew and painted pictures of their happiest moments. :)
Writers' Workshop- Students wrote paragraphs about their Happiest Memories. They shared these in Readers' Theatre.
Music- Students have been practicing their songs for Palm Sunday!
Computer Lab-We published our research papers today and finished up our All About Me slideshows.
P.E.- We went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather this week.
Spanish- 4th graders how to speak full sentences in Spanish and how to compare "big" and "small" and "far" and "close."
P.S. Thank you for your prayers again this week! May dad had his first round of chemotherapy and really is doing well. Thank you for lifting us up.
Have a beautiful weekend!
God's Blessings,
