Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
RELIGION- We have discussed the stories of Jesus' Resurrection and how He appeared to Mary, His disciples, and to Thomas. We talked about "not seeing and believing" and how we are BLESSED! Next week, we will talk about His message of the Great Commission and His Ascension.
MEMORY-4/14-Day by day, at home, away, Jesus is my staff and stay. When I hunger, Jesus feeds me, Into pleasant pastures leads me; When I thirst, He bids me go Where the quiet waters flow.
4/17-Who so happy as I am, Even now the Shepherd's lamb? And when my short life is ended, By His angel host attended, He shall fold me to His breast, There within His arms to rest.
LANGUAGE ARTS- We began reading and learning about the childhood of Harry S. Truman this week. We have learned a lot of new vocabulary words and have focused on sequencing and cause, and effect. During class, we have been working in Literature Circles, with each student taking on a different role during discussions.
Yesterday, each fourth grader received a biography of a famous Missourian. Your kiddo’s job is to read the biography, take notes about this person, and then, in class, we will begin writing about the person we studied. This will be our April/May book report and project. We will create a Biography Lap Book, which we will begin in class, but will need to be finished at home. They have been given a due date of May 8th. In the meantime, please help your child come up with a plan to dress up as his or her famous Missourian. Please use the resources you have at home or borrow from a friend. We will be reciting the facts we have learned about these people, dressed as them, at our Famous Missourian Living Museum on May 13th. (Think: Night at the Museum!) You will get to meet George Washington Carver, Harry S. Truman, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Daniel Boone, Mark Twain, Walt Disney, and Ulysses S. Grant! I have some excited kiddos in here! (Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
