Third and Fourth Grade News
May 16, 2014
Hello, Parents! It is hard to believe that this will be my
LAST newsletter this year! Good
grief! We have had a super-fun
week! I have written highlights below…
Monday-We shared our Famous Missourian Living Museum
with all of you and the school! It was a
great success! I am so proud of how hard
the students worked to make this day so much fun and memorable for
everyone. They were amazing
statues! This also was our last,
full-length “regular” day of school. We
had Math, and Religion, Cursive, and English.
Tuesday- I was actually absent on Tuesday, but the
students had their first day of Tim-Olympics, where they formed teams, created
a poster, made up a cheer, and started to work on a lip-sync for our
competition next Tuesday. The afternoon
was full of specials, where we did our last writing assignment—an acrostic name
poem.
Wednesday- We had our field trips to Truman Library, McCoy
Park, and Fort Osage. We began at Truman
Library. It was all so interesting,
filled with facts we had learned from school, as well as new facts gained. It was awesome to see the paintings by Thomas
Hart Benton, to see all the pictures of Harry, and to hear his voice speaking
to us from his Oval Office. They
actually did not charge us for the visit, which was so wonderful! So, if you paid ahead of time, your child
will come home with $3.00 today. Thank
you! Then we headed over to McCoy Park
to eat lunch and play. The weather was
beautiful! Our last stop was Fort Osage
in Sibley, MO, where we learned about the Osage Indians and were able to also
see the fort where the soldiers lodged.
We heard a lot of neat stories and were able to “shop” at the mercantile
too. Then we headed back to school! Afterwards, our multiplication winners were
able to enjoy some skyscraper ice cream sodas from Winstead’s!
Thursday- We had Tim-Olympics in the morning…We practiced
lip-syncs, played Four-Quadrant Dodge Ball, and had a Board Game Bonanza! Make sure you check out the stats in the
hallway outside of Mrs. Barber’s room.
The race is close! In the
afternoon, we were able to visit with Mr. Schnakenberg (former principal) and
see some of his model cars. We also had
our last art project, which is where we had to draw the other half of a wild
animal (check these out in the hallway).
We had Spanish, and Music, and shared the rest of our book reports. They were awesome!
Friday-Today is PLAY DAY! There is a lot of excitement and laughter
around here! We are also having our
Athletic Banquet tonight at 6:30, if you were involved with athletics at
Timothy this school year. Come join
us!

It
has truly been a joy to be your child’s teacher this year. Thank you for
sharing your treasures everyday with me!
I thank you for the support you have given, the words of encouragement
you have said, and the prayers you have lifted up for me this school year
too…It truly is an honor to work alongside you.
I love each of your children so, so much! I am going to miss my 4th graders
(and our students who are not returning. L) very much next year, but
am excited to see what God has in store for them along the way! I wish all of you God’s Blessings and a
wonderful summer.
Blessings to you,
Kim Brunkhorst
