Third and Fourth Grade News
May 9, 2014
Hello,
Parents! We have had a fun week! Thank you so much for all of the gifts, flowers,
and treats you have showered me with this week!
Goodness, I have felt so spoiled…and I am so thankful for each of you
and your children.
Here is
what we have been up to in the classroom:
Art/Writing--We finished our Mother’s Day projects and sent them home.
Missouri History--We also learned as much as we could about our awesome state…and
took our Chapter 4 tests today and did very well. Playing Jeopardy on Thursday helped us quite
a bit! This week, we also learned all
about famous Missourians.
Math--We have been working SO hard—third graders at learning how to
multiply 3-digit numbers with 1-digit numbers and fourth graders learning how
to complete long division. There are now
7 students going to Winstead’s on Wednesday!
They are working so hard at this… J Please let me know if you are able to drive
your child there, or if you would like for he or she to ride with me. Either will be fine!
Religion-We discussed the many miracles of Jesus.
P.E.- We played Four-Quadrant Dodge ball this week—a voted
favorite!
Music- We listened to Vivaldi and identified the instruments. We ended our session this week with some “Let
It Go!” lyrics… J
Here is
the rundown of next week:
On Monday, we will have our Famous
Missourian Living Museum on May 12th here at school from
9:00-10:00. Your child has been doing
research and is ready! The only part
that I will ask you to help with is to help your child find something to wear
that may portray that character. Please
don’t spend money on anything…whatever you have around the house will
work! In the past, I have had kids wear
dad’s suit jacket, paint on mustaches, wear dance costumes, mom’s dresses,
etc. Please ask your child tonight who
they are studying! Thank you for your
help in this! They are learning so much
and are excited to share… J This will be our last full “regular” day of school. We will continue to have Religion each day,
but will not have new spelling words or reading stories to learn.
On Tuesday,
Tim-Olympics will begin in the morning (specials classes will
be the same as usual from now until the end of the year) – Tim-Olympics is a
3-8 grade activity that covers concepts learned, fun games, creative planning,
and just plain luck. Ask your child for more information, as they are VERY
excited to begin the games!
On Wednesday,
May 14th, is our trip! All
students are invited! If you have not already checked out the Sign-Up Genius for
our end of the year trip, please do so.
If you can please indicate that your child will be present, that will be
appreciated. You may send in the money ($6.00)
anytime before that date. We will leave
school at 8:30 and be back by
dismissal that day.
On Thursday,
Tim-Olympics resumes (morning only). Book
reports are due. Third graders have
Biography Rugs. Fourth graders have
short stories. We will have regular
Special Classes in the afternoon.
On Friday – Fun Day! Here’s the link to the sign
up, if you still want to help –
