This week's short, but sweet newsletter! 10/23/15

Hello, Parents!  Happy Friday!  GO Royals!  We have conferences this week, so this note will be brief! It has been great meeting with each of you...Thank you for coming and for sharing your treasures with me.  :)

Today we had so much fun out at Karen and Ron Davies' home/schoolhouse out in Greenwood.  The weather cooperated and the children were able to go on a scavenger hunt, jump on the trampoline, play on the zip-line, take a hayride, play on the playground, and have a party!  Whew... We had fun!

Some reminders for full-time students:
 - School picture retakes are next Monday!  If your child missed our first photo day, or if you didn’t like how the first set came out, remember to dress your best on Monday!

-“Donuts with Dad” is coming soon!  Mark your calendars for the morning of Wednesday, November 4.  We will enjoy donuts and a fun activity.  Dads, or special people, we hope to see you there!

-School of Economics is NEXT FRIDAY!  Students are doing a great job working in their groups and preparing for this event.  We still have a few parent slots we need filled for our trip, though!  If you’re interested, sign-up here.  Students pay $7.50 for this trip.

-Math--We have finished up our math unit on money.  On Monday, we will practice writing checks, and counting back change.  We will have a short money test as well.

-Religion/Language Arts--We will be learning about Reformation and Martin Luther next week.  The entire class will have the same spelling words that are taken from the stories and selections we will be reading.  These will be coming home on Monday.

Home-school and Full-Time Students:

P.E.- This week in P.E., we had fun doing stations and playing pin dodge ball.
Art- We made woven pumpkins.  These are beautiful and hanging in the hallway!
Music- With Mrs. Pennington, we finished our movie about Handel, and practiced songs for the musical, "Mayhem in Bethlehem."

We know the Saturday practice schedule for our Christmas program this December.  As dates approach, we’ll let you know more specifics, but for now, it might be helpful to place these dates on your calendars:
Sat., Nov. 21st – 9:00-11:00 [school gym]
Sat., Dec. 12th – 9:00-noon [school gym]
Sat., Dec. 19th – 9:00-noon [school gym]

Writers’ Workshop- We finished up our personal narratives, and began some free writing called, "Currently," where we write things about ourselves.  We all really enjoyed doing this, and will do it once a quarter!  We will begin persuasive essays next week.
