Newsletter 11-6-15

Hello, parents!  Happy Friday!  We have had such a fun, and crazy-busy week!  Having off Tuesday for our AMAZING Royals was so fun!  The children came back on Wednesday with wonderful stories, and hearts full of joy!

Here is what we have been up to:
Religion-We have been learning about Moses, the 10 Plagues, and the Passover.  We discussed how Jesus was our last sacrificial lamb, and discussed in detail the Lord’s Supper.

Math-Both groups have been working with time—using clocks, calendars, and schedules.  Next week, we will test over these skills and begin multiplication!

Language Arts-We discussed the word integrity this week, and the importance of having integrity.  We talked about how part of it is who you are and how you act when no one is watching… J
Third graders read the story “Kamishibai Man,” and fourth graders read “Dear Mr. Winston.” Both were fun stories!

P.E.- This week in P.E., we played Dr. Dodgeball.  This was a favorite.  J

Art- We made Zentangle Pumpkins with Sharpies and watercolors.  Please be sure to check them out!

Music- With Mrs. Pennington and Mr. Burns, we practiced three of our major Christmas musical songs, as well as learning some of the dance moves.

Other Events:
-Thank you for sending in Box Tops and Labels!  Our class won this week and for a prize, were able to eat the leftover donuts from Donuts with Dad.  Yay!
-Thanks, dads, grandpas, and other special friends, that were able to join us on Wednesday.  We had a lot of fun!
-The Staff from Messiah Lutheran visited us this afternoon as part of their in-service day.  They wanted to share/swap ideas with us.  J  It was neat for me, as the 3rd/4th grade teacher from Messiah is Miss Harries, who was also MY 4th grade teacher.  I was nervous at first, but then settled in for a fun afternoon.  You’ll have to ask your kiddos about their experiences.  It was nice to be able to pick another teacher’s brain for a bit.  We loved having them come and visit!
-Flu shots are set for next Wednesday, so if your child signed up for it, they came home today with some information about side effects and what to expect.  Please look in Friday Folders.
- We know the Saturday practice schedule for our Christmas program this December.  As dates approach, we’ll let you know more specifics, but for now, it might be helpful to place these dates on your calendars:
