Dear Parents,
We have had a busy, eventful week
in 3rd/4th grade.
Today was a great day, and I saw so many examples of leadership,
teamwork, and grace. Thank you for your
patience, your prayers, and your partnership.
I am blessed.
Some
things to think about:
-I will be gone next Monday, March 7th, as I will
be attending Mrs. Barnett’s mom’s funeral in St. Charles, MO. Mrs. Debbie Johnson will be here as the
sub. Most of the kids have met her, as
she has subbed before in the younger grades.
Mrs. Carrasco will also be here.
Please pray for Mrs. Barnett and her family.
-Next Friday is the end of the 3rd quarter! (Can you believe it?!) We will dismiss at 1:00 next Friday, so
teachers can work on report cards. They
will go home the following Wednesday.
- The following week, grades 3-8 will be traveling to
Harvesters to donate our time to help others.
If you haven’t signed up and want to go, please sign up on the link
below. Harvesters will want a final
count of people we’re bringing, so the sooner you can sign up, the better!
-Enrollment is now open to the public! Do you know of anyone looking for a school
home? We’d love for them to come and
take a tour and see if we’d fit their needs!
Share the word however you feel most comfortable. We are eager to begin
preparing for next school year, so if you’ve not sent in your paperwork yet, do
so soon. This helps us figure out
textbook/supply needs in advance.
Here is what we have been up to this week:
Religion: This
week we talked about the friendship of David and Jonathan, and also David’s relationship
with Saul. Today, we discussed what
makes a good leader, and how our classroom, should be like a “heaven on earth.” We looked up many Bible verses that gave us
advice on how to live our lives, and to be good leaders. Each group worked together and created either
a poster or a document depicting what we learned. We will display these in the hallway, after
we share these on Monday. It made my
heart sing to see the teamwork we had today!
God’s love is powerful!
Language Arts:
We read the stories, “A Tree is Growing,” and “Moon Runner.” We tested over these and our spelling words
today.
Math: Third graders worked with reading and creating
bar graphs. Fourth grade learned how to
divide with zeroes and to interpret remainders.
Both groups will test over these skills next week.
Social Studies: We are back into our Missouri history
texts! This week, we learned all about the
Native Americans that lived here in Missouri, and about their heritage, traditions,
religions, and customs. It was so very
interesting. We will continue on this chapter
next week, and will have a test by the end of the quarter, Friday.
Writers’ Workshop:
We finished up our autobiographical essays and will begin poetry next
week!
Art: We made beautiful butterflies from coffee
filters, pipe cleaners , and clothespins.
These are hanging in the classroom!
P.E.: We played two different forms of tag this
week. Next week, we will be doing some
team-building fun!
Music: We finished up learning about Bach. We practiced our “We are the Presidents” song
and have been practicing our songs for the musical, as well as our lines. Please make sure you are working with your
child at home as well. Please also
remind them to bring their lines to music class each Tuesday and Thursday. Thank you!
