An early newsletter...:)

Hello, Parents!  This will be a short and sweet note, as I am headed out of town this evening.  My two oldest daughters are in the Golden Regiment marching band at Blue Springs High School and they are competing in Indianapolis this weekend, so we are going to watch and cheer them on!  Mrs. Stack will be the 3rd/4th grade substitute.  Mrs. Barnett and Mrs. Carrasco will also be here...and we are all set for tomorrow!

Here are highlights of this week:
Religion-We talked about how we are ALL saints—forgiven, cleansed, LOVED children of God!  We have been learning the commandments too.  This week, we finished up the 1st and the 2nd
Memory for next week: (meaning of the 2nd commandment)
November 8-What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so we do not curse, swear, use satanic arts, lie, or deceive by His name,
November 11-but call upon it in every trouble, pray, praise, and give thanks.

Math-3rd grade is learning long subtraction with borrowing and 4th grade is working on multiplication.  They will be tested over those smaller facts next week, so please urge them to review!

Social Studies-We “traveled” to Washington, D.C., and have learned about the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial, the WWII Memorial, and the Washington Monument.  It is loads of fun!

Art-We have learned all about Georgia O’Keefe, her life, her love of nature, and her beautiful artwork!  We are beginning to create flowers in the style of Georgia O’Keefe, and will place these in a collage for our action this month!  Be on the lookout!

Writing/Computer Lab-We learned how to write haiku poems this week, and goodness, we are doing a great job.   They are beautiful thoughts about nature.  We will be publishing these and putting them in a classroom book soon. Love ‘em!

P.E.-Bombardment!
