Hello! We have had a
great and BUSY week of school!
*Thank you for donating money for our Angel Tree
children. As a class, we ordered the
gifts, created cards, and I delivered them on Wednesday. We are so blessed. Thank you for sharing your treasures.
* Last Friday was the mid-quarter! We sent home reports this past Tuesday. If you’ve not signed and returned them yet,
please do so soon. (An email saying
you’ve seen it is also just fine.)
* We have just over two weeks left of school before our
Christmas break, and they are a very busy set of days!! Next week will pretty normal, with spelling
words, reading selections, and memory work.
*Memory for next week:
December 13- THE EIGHTH COMMANDMENT
You shall not give false testimony against your
neighbor. What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not
tell lies about our neighbor,
December 16- betray him, slander him, or hurt his
reputation, but defend him, speak well of him, and explain everything in the
kindest way.

*Here is what we have been up to:
Religion-We are marveling at God’s creations—the amazing
ways that our bodies work and how the world works. We also discussed how God takes care of us
and reviewed the story of the prophet Elijah and the widow.
Reading/Language Arts—we talked about idioms this week, and
after we learned about them, they just seemed to jump out at us from
everywhere! Hold your horses! ;) We
read “Science Fair” and “The Earth Dragon Awakens.” – one about an adventure
during a science fair and the other about the earthquake in San Francisco in
1906. We learned cursive h and k this
week. Fourth graders received information
about their historical fiction book reports due at the end of January.
Math-
3rd- We are continuing to learn multiplication—facts up to 8. We also have been doing a lot of work with
word problems. Today we had fun with
Christmas tree facts.
4th- We are working on multiplying by two-digit
numbers. We will continue this next week. Keep memorizing those facts!
Social Studies—Hopefully, you heard about this at home! We elected our President: Mr. Adam Gannan,
and created a House and Senate. Speaker
of the House is Mr. Jimmy Shearer and Majority Leader is Mr. Peyton O’Donnell. We learned how to write bills, and the
process they need to go to before they reach the president, and either get
vetoed or become laws. We will finish our meetings next week, and
they I will share with you the laws that passed. How fun!
Art-We made Christmas cards for the nursing home we will be
visiting later this month, and for our pen pals. We
will work on your gifts next week. ;)
Music-We have been working on music for the Christmas
program, as well as reviewing names of notes.
4th graders will be playing the recorders beginning in January. If you have a recorder you would like your
child to use please have them bring it to music class after Christmas
break. If not, they will be using the
recorders that belong to the school but you may choose to have them play their
own instrument for sanitary purposes.
P.E-We are learning basketball skills-dribbling, passing,
shooting.
Writing-We finished up persuasive essays. We will have a fun Christmas writing project
next week.
