Hello, Parents! We
have officially entered the “busy season!”
*Easter Break begins next week!! We will dismiss at 1:00 dismissal next
Thursday (Maundy Thursday) and we’ll have specials classes that morning. There is no school on Friday (Good Friday);
and no school the following Monday.
*Trivia Night is three weeks away now. Mark your calendars for Friday, April
21! There will be 10 rounds of general
knowledge questions + prizes given out for various reasons (one of the top
teams, last place, best decorations/costuming, etc.) Participation is limited to 9th Grade and
older. 7th/8th grade will be there
selling refreshments; proceeds will benefit their upcoming class trip! Play is limited to 30 teams of 8, so register
early to ensure your spot! Tickets are
now $140 per team or $20 individual.
Please let us know if you have any questions!
*Our Cinco de Mayo celebration is Friday, May 5. An email from Mrs. Anderson came home on
Wednesday with an attachment about what kids should wear that evening. The performances begin at 7:00 in the gym. We’ll update you soon with the times that
students need to be here, too.
We have been busy!
Here is what we have been up to:
Religion-We have been learning about Samuel and Eli,
and discussing ways to communicate with God.
We have learned all about the power of prayer!
Math-3rd graders have been learning about
whole numbers, and equivalent fractions.
We will sum up our chapter next week and test over it. We will then begin measurement! 4th graders have been comparing
fractions and placing them in simplest form.
Reading-3rd graders read about Surviving
Mt. Everest and 4th graders read a science fiction story set in the
year 2157. It was fun to see how all the
teachers were computers! ;) We learned how to document book, magazine,
and internet titles while writing this week.
We will not have Spelling words or a Reading selection next week—it is a
short week!
Social Studies- We tested over our geography unit
today! The kids did great, and will
bring them home for you next week.
Today, we played some fun games with maps, including how to tell
directions, and find different locations on street maps.
Art- We learned all about Roy G. Biv. Ask your kiddo! ;)
Writing- We are finishing up our descriptions. They are turning out so great!
Computers-We have been publishing our descriptions as
well as playing fraction Pac-Man, and playing a multiples game on Khan Academy.
P.E.-We have been working with some Presidential
Physical Fitness components. This week
we worked on the shuttle run, the sit and reach, and crunches.
Spanish- The students have been working so hard on
their Cinco de Mayo art work and dances!
In Music, the kiddos are also practicing their
Spanish songs, and learning note beats, using musical instruments.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings,
