Happy Friday!

Hi, Parents!  We have had a fun week!

Several important notes:
*Next week will be our last week of spelling words, a reading selection, and memory verses.
*We will  have our last Science test next Friday.  A study guide is coming home today.
*We will be working on our biography book reports in class next week, and the following week.  These will be due on May 12th.  The only thing your child needs to do at home to prepare is to have his or her book read, and to have taken notes on important events in that person’s life.  Most students are finished with this step!  The artwork and project will be completed at school.  :)  (If you have any spare large brown paper bags, please send them to school because we will need them for this project.  Thank you!)

*We will have our Cinco de Mayo dress rehearsal next Tuesday, at 1:00.  Our actual Cinco de Mayo celebration is next Friday, May 5th!  Please have your child to his or her classroom by 6:45.  The boys need to be fully dressed, please.  (White top, black pants or blue jeans, cowboy boots or dress shoes.) Girls need to have their shorts on (that go on under their skirts), their dress shoes, and hair in a bun (if possible!)   The kids are rearing and ready to go, as we have been practicing like crazy!  Also, if you are at our 10:00 worship at the south site this Sunday, please stay a few extra minutes to help clean off the stage after church.  Thank you!

*Yearbook order forms have come out!  You may order either by sending back the form or by going online (www.inter-state.com/yearbook and use code 11756C).  Each yearbook costs $13.  If writing a check, make it payable to Timothy Lutheran School.  The last day to order is Monday, May 22.

*We have some athletes in our classroom that did so very well last weekend at the track meet in Higginsville, and again this Tuesday, at the cross-country meet out in Stilwell, Kansas.   I was a proud coach, teacher, and parent.  :)  Please congratulate the following kiddos if you see them:  Malinda, Morgan A., Marius, Makenzie, Adam, Siarya, Kamryn, Liam, and Morgan H.  We have a meet tomorrow at Shawnee Mission North.  Praying for good weather!

*We will have our class’s end-of-the-year field trip on Thursday, May 18th.  All 3rd/4th graders are invited to attend.  We will be leaving school around 9:30, and heading to Railroad Park in Blue Springs to play on the playgrounds, play kickball, play volleyball, ride scooters, and picnic.  We will be back to school by 2:30.  I will be sending out a Sign-Up Genius form very soon, as we will need some parent drivers.  Thank you!

*Volleyball camp forms came home this week!  As some of you know, Addi’s dad, Mr. Dave MacLean, is the head volleyball coach at Blue Springs South.  He is heading up a free camp for our volleyball players July 24-27.  Please take advantage of this if you can!  I know we will all learn so much (including me!)  He has also sent home some other camp opportunities that will take place at Blue Springs South.  Please see the fliers that came home this week.  Thank you!

Here are updates about the following subjects:
Religion- We have been discussing prayer.  Specifically, how God delivers us from evil, and why we can pray with confidence.  We are so blessed to be able to come to our Father in prayer!

Math- Third grade is working with telling time to the minute and elapsed time.  If you have an analog clock at home, please ask your child to help to “tell what time it is!”   Fourth grade is working with decimals.  Both groups: Please keep on practicing those multiplication facts!  We have been working on their Winstead’s (multiplication) testing every day.  We will take the trip after school on Wednesday, May 17th, at 3:45.  We will let you know if your child will be attending.  Thank you for all of your help at home!

Science- We have finished up our chapter on life cycles, and will test over it next Friday.  Study guides came home today.

Art- We worked on our “marching band” pictures.  We will work on our biography rugs next week.

Music- We have been working on our Spanish songs and reviewing notes.  We sing at the Cinco de Mayo performances on Friday, May 5th, at 7:00 and third graders sing at church on Sunday, May 3rd, here at the south site at 10:00.  All students will also be singing at graduation on May 19th

Spanish- Please see above.

P.E.- We ran times shuttle runs this week, and will continue working with track events next week.

Writing- We took notes on our biographies, and began writing down important facts.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings,
Kim
