Have a GREAT weekend!

Hi, Parents!  I hope this note finds you well!  We have had a fun week, with a culmination of Trivia Night tonight at 6:00 (come on out!) and 4th-8th grades singing this weekend at the 8:30 and 9:45 services.  They are to meet in front of the piano in the sanctuary at 8:20 a.m.
Things are busy, but we are so thankful for your support!  We are abundantly blessed here at Timothy.

So, I have to write what is on my mind right now…  Last night, we had our first cross-country meet, out at Calvary Lutheran.  The third and fourth graders did so well, and represented Timothy with such good sportsmanship and smiles.  I was one proud coach and teacher.  We have some amazing athletes too!  Goodness!  If you get a chance, please congratulate Marius, Adam, Kamryn, Siarya, and Morgan H. for a job well done. (…and any of our older kids too!)

Yearbook order forms came home this week!  You may order either by sending back the form or by going online (www.inter-state.com/yearbook and use code 11756C).  Each yearbook costs $13.  If writing a check, make it payable to Timothy Lutheran School.  The last day to order is Monday, May 22.

Here is a rundown of what we have been up to this week:
Religion-We have been discussing in depth what prayer is.  We have looked at the parts of the Lord’s Prayers, and also when Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.  We have learned exactly what God’s Will is, and how it is not always what we want or what we understand.  He is omniscient and ALWAYS knows best.

Language Arts-We had fun getting into our “new” reading books this week!  We learned about spiders, and about a man who ran across America.  Both were fun stories.  We also talked about the proper use of adverbs.

Math- Third grade is working with measurement—capacity and mass.  Fourth grade is working with decimals.  Please keep on practicing those multiplication facts!  Both groups have been working on their Winstead’s (multiplication) testing every day.  Thanks for your help at home.

Science- We have been talking about the life cycles of plants, flowering plants, conifer, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals.  Today we studied flowers and cones in an observations.  We took these items and were able to “dissect” them and then analyze and diagram what we learned.

Art- We listened to some march music by the amazing John Philip Sousa, and then created marching band pictures.  We discussed how they are all uniform in their movements as well as their dress.  On a personal note, I also pulled up a video of the Blue Springs marching band (Golden Regiment), so the kids could see how they are in uniform too.  (I have two daughters in that band!)  That was fun for me.  ;)

Music- They have been working so hard practicing their Spanish songs, learning songs to sing in church, as well as working on notes.  I am so proud of them.  Reminder:  4th-8th grades sing this weekend at the 8:30 and 9:45 services at the north site.  They are to meet in front of the piano in the sanctuary at 8:20 a.m.

Spanish- The students are practicing away at their Cinco de Mayo performances!  Mrs. Carrasco has asked that the kids arrive at 6:45 that evening.  They will meet in their classrooms.  Dads, if you can, after worship here at the south site on April 30th, we need some of you to help clear the stage area for Cinco de Mayo on Friday.  We will be leaving the risers, but everything else needs to be moved so we can DANCE!

P.E.- We ran the 1/2 mile this week for time!  The kids did great!  I was so impressed by their stamina and how hard they each tried.  We also worked on the running long jump.

Writing- We reviewed how to write friendly letters, and have composed cards to our shut-ins, sharing the love of Jesus.  We will mail these next week!

Computer Lab- This week, we either worked with Writers’ Workshop, or we played educational math games that helped us with fractions!  Mrs. Stack shared these sites with me, and they are awesome!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings,
