Hello, Parents! We
have had another great week! I am
sending this a bit early in the day because I will be heading to Concordia, MO,
with our girls’ volleyball team at 3:00 today to begin our state volleyball
fun!
TWO cool things in store for Wednesday, November 8th -
*Donuts with Dad beginning at 7:45 that morning. Come on up for breakfast and bonding over a
special activity.
*Special chapel for our whole school at the north site;
drivers will be needed to get everyone there by 9:45 (note: later chapel time
compared to normal). Our special chapel
will be presented by Children of the World, a traveling group of students. There will also be a concert at 6:30 that night
for the community (you’re welcome to come!).

*Are you ready to take your Scrip use to the next level and really increase your support of our school? Or do you want to start using scrip but don't want the hassle of ordering cards once a month? Then it's time for you to enroll in Scrip Now - on-demand scrip purchasing!
To help you get enrolled, a volunteer will be available at school at the following times to walk you through the process:
• Monday, November 6 at drop-off and pick-up
• Thursday, November 9 at pick-up
You will need to bring your checking account routing number in order to set up the online/mobile purchase account. Sorry, credit cards are not accepted at this time. Although, you can order Scrip online and pick up at the school.
Questions? Contact Steve Patton (stevep@tls.com or 228-5300).
*The program itself will begin at 9:00, but there will be
donuts and refreshments offered beforehand for our guests. Please feel free to invite the veterans you
know and love!
*In addition to the program, we will have a display honoring
all we know who have served, so if you want your loved ones included, just
email us the names and we’ll add that, too!
*BONUS - if you have photos of those who’ve served, we would
love to include them in a slideshow during the program. Feel free to email a digital copy or send in
a photo (we will be sure to return it straight to you once it’s been
scanned). We could also include copies
of these photos with our display (mentioned in the previous bullet point).
Our shoe boxes and items for packing are due on November 10th
as well! We hope to fill over 200 shoe
box gifts this year—so please get those items in! Students will participate in a Packing Party
during school on Monday, November 13.
Students may bring:
• Items to
fill shoe box gifts
• Complete shoe box gifts
• Empty
shoe box size boxes
• Monies
to defray shipping costs
Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
Religion- We began the week with a fun review of all
we have learned about Martin Luther. On
Tuesday, October 31, we met in the Music Room with our Chapel families, heard
the story of Martin Luther, sang “A Mighty Fortress is Our God,” prayed together,
and sang “In Christ Alone.” We also enjoyed a yummy German lunch here in the
classroom. I was amazed at how many of
the kiddos loved the German potato salad, and wiener schnitzel. J The German chocolate upside down cake was the
biggest hit! ;) Later in the week, we learned about Gideon,
and how God helped him free the Israelites from the Middianites. Gideon learned that with God, ALL things are
possible!
Next week’s memory:
November 7-THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT
Honor your father and your mother. What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not
despise or anger our parents and other authorities,
November 10-but honor them, serve and obey them, love and
cherish them.
Language Arts- We finished up “Charlotte’s Web” this
week and watched the movie today for our Start Party. We also shared our book reports this
week. All of the children did very
well! I loved the creativity with those
special “lunches!” We read chapters 5, 6, 7 of “Stuart Little” this week. We are really enjoying this story! We will read chapters 8-11 next week. During DEAR time, I am sharing “Little House in
the Big Woods.”
Spelling Words for the Week of November 10th:
smartly, tremble, rigging, gargle, descended, crouched,
anxious, gingerly, hoisted, permanent, Challenge Word: *delicatessen
Math- We learned how to multiply 3 and 4 digit
numbers by one digit numbers this week, and have been practicing it like
crazy! This is where it is truly showing
that having out multiplication facts memorized is important!
Science- This week, we did a short experiment with
celery stalks, blue food coloring, and water, to show how nutrients flow
through a plant from the roots. We also
began our animal and plant cell posters.
SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- We created Luther Seals using different medias
from our homes and school. We are almost
finished! This will be a beautiful
display!
Writing-We practiced our friendly letter skills by
writing letters and drawing pictures for Veterans.
P.E.- We played Dr. Dodgeball—what a fun game!
Music- We have been working on recorders, songs for
Veterans Day, and songs for the Christmas program!
Please look below for dates to remember and sign-ups
for upcoming events:
God’s Blessings,
