Hello, Parents! It
has been a fun and crazy week! I loved
meeting with each of you at conferences.
Thank you for taking the time to do that! It has been such an honor to teach your child
and to work hand-in-hand with you. We
are all so blessed!
We visited the ECC on Tuesday, and were able to help
the 2, 3, and 4, year olds with their Harvest Hoe Down party. We had
a lot of fun visiting with these little ones, and it was neat for me to see how
mature our 4th graders can be!
They each took ownership of his or her station, and were so helpful to
those sweet little ones. This is such a
neat experience for our kids…and what a way to witness! I got goosebumps, when the 3 and 4 year olds
from our south building came strolling in too, and the 4th graders
all did little cheers, saying, “Yay!
These are our
preschoolers!” I loved it.
Today, we had our Fall Harvest Party at Karen and Ron
Davies home. We are so thankful to them
for hosting and providing the pumpkins, hayride, and fun equipment. It was a COLD day outside, but we had fun on
the zip line, in the tree house, riding the four-wheelers, jumping on the
trampoline, visiting the old schoolhouse, and playing on the playground. Thanks to the parents that helped out
too. It was a super-fun day!
*Our School Ministry holds its annual auction tomorrow
evening! Our 4th grade class
project, the book and the beautiful picture, (plus those made in other classes),
will be part of the live auction. There
will be silent auction items, food and drinks, and live entertainment all
evening. Tickets are still available
until 5:00 p.m. tonight! Please
come! Below is the link to get tickets
or to get your ticket fee lowered by volunteering time to help with
set-up/take-down - lots of help needed tomorrow especially.
*NEXT Monday, October 30 - Eat at Chipotle in Blue
Springs!! We will receive 50% of the
proceeds from 4-8 p.m.! Be sure to
mention us when you check out!
*Tuesday, October 31st, is Reformation Day! …and this year, it is the 500th
anniversary of Martin Luther nailing the 95 Theses on the church door. (October 31st, 1517) We are asking that as a school, everyone wear
RED, the official color of Reformation. We will have some fun activities to do here
in our classroom on Tuesday morning, and several with the whole school. I am going to cook a German meal for my
class, so you do not need to send a lunch in on Tuesday. J It will be a fun day!
*The first weekend of November is special because our older
girls’ volleyball team has qualified for State!! If you’re free, come out to Concordia and
support our Rams. Once I have a
schedule, I will share it!
*TWO cool things in store for Wednesday, November 8 -
o Donuts
with Dad beginning at 7:45 that morning.
Come on up for breakfast and bonding over a special activity.
o Special
chapel for our whole school at the north site; drivers will be needed to get
everyone there by 9:45 (note: later chapel time compared to normal). Our special chapel will be presented by
Children of the World, a traveling group of students. There will also be a concert at 6:30 that
night for the community (you’re welcome to come!).
*We are going to be celebrating our Veterans here at
school on Friday, November 10th, beginning at 8:30. We will have donuts and coffee, and our
students/choirs will be speaking and singing.
More details will come home soon, but what we need from you right now is
this: If you know a veteran, please send
in his or her name and a picture if you have one! You can send the picture with your child to
school, and we can scan it, or you can email them in. Thank you for all of your help with this, as
we honor our veterans!

Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
Religion/History- We have been learning all about
Martin Luther! We have learned about his
life, the rediscovery of the Gospel message, the nailing of the 95 Theses on
the door in Wittenburg, Germany, and Martin’s life thereafter. We will be having our culmination activities
on Tuesday. To God be the Glory!
Next week’s memory:
October 31-THE THIRD COMMANDMENT
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
November 3-What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not
despise preaching and His Word, but hold it sacred and gladly hear and learn
it.
Language Arts- We read chapter 3 and 4 of Stuart
Little this week. It has been fun
for me to witness the conversations taking place around the room, as this book
is discussed. I love it! We began reading “Stuart Little” this
week. We will continue reading next week.
Spelling Words for the Week of November 3rd
gait, berth, detest, tartly, rescue, remark, conclusion,
conductor, blunder, aboard
Challenge Word-*Reformation
Math- We are multiplying 2-digit numbers by one-digit
numbers, and regrouping. They are
getting really good at doing this! So
proud! Next week, we will multiply with
3 and 4-digit numbers too.
SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- We created beautiful woven-paper pumpkins. Come and check them out in the hallway!
Writing/Computer-We published our fractured fairytale
stories and we worked on the Typing Web, to improve our keyboarding skills.
Next week, we will begin a descriptive essay.
P.E.- We played Pin Dodgeball and enjoyed some time
outside!
Music- We have been working on recorders, songs for
Veterans Day, and songs for the Christmas program!
God’ s Blessings,
Kim
