Dear Parents,
Hello! We have had a
fun week! This week, we have learned
more about Martin Luther King, Jr., and have incorporated that learning into
our Social Studies, Language Arts, and Art curriculums.
Here are some important upcoming events:
*Please say a prayer for our church youth (6th-8th),
as we travel to St. Louis this weekend for YouthQuake. We leave right after school!
*Report cards are coming home today! Be on the lookout for those! ;)
*Achievement testing dates have changed. They will now take place the week of March
19. More info will come home later.

WOW! What a fun week
that is going to be!
Here are some details from our week:
Religion-We talked about Naaman, Elisha, and Jonah
this week.
Memory-
January 23rd-For just as the body is one and has many
members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is
with Christ. ~1 Corinthians 12:12
January 26- Luther’s Morning Prayer: I thank You, my
Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me
this night from all harm and danger;
Reading/Social Studies- We read “Happy Birthday, Dr.
King!” and learned lessons about segregation and Rosa Parks. We played a game called’ “Just or
Unjust?” This brought about some great
discussions!
Spelling Words for Thursday, January 25th: (from “Sadako and the Thousand
Paper Cranes”)
scarcely, shrines, throngs, pang, murmur, scold, toward,
through, bamboo, several, *leukemia
Math-We reviewed long multiplication and division,
and tested over it this week! I am so
proud of the kids and the progress they have made with this material. It is so neat for me to see those “lightbulbs”
going off! Next week, we will begin
Unit 7 about non-numeric patterns.
Science-We met with Mrs. Stack to tell her our plans
for the Science Fair. She helped us
“tweak” our ideas, and gave us ideas to put them into action. Now, the kiddos are on their own for a bit,
so please make sure they are working at home!
They are welcome to come and receive their “board” from me when they are
ready. We also began our onion study
this week!
Art-We each thought of our DREAMS for the future,
wrote them down, and then painted pictures depicting them. These are hanging in the hall…and they are
FABULOUS!
Music-We are working hard at recorders and our songs
for NLSW, as well as for the Talent Show!
Please make sure that your child is bringing his or her recorder to
school each week! Thank you!
P.E.-This week, we took a break from basketball to
practice our jump roping skills! Boy, we
are having fun!
