Hi, Parents! It has
been wonderful meeting with you! Your
children are doing great sharing their portfolios of work and personal
report cards. They are handling
themselves so well!
A few reminders:
*We don’t have school on Monday—It’s President’s Day! Enjoy your long weekend!
*Our service project this month is to collect food
for Harvesters. Each Chapel family has a
box, located in the hall outside our school hallway, to collect goods. We will he having some fun with this! We will collect all the way through March
2nd. Thank you!
*Our Science Fair is next Friday, February 23rd. Please encourage your child to work on his or
project this weekend. President’s Day
would be a great time to tie up loose ends!
They will need to bring the project to school on Friday and they will be
set up that morning.
Here is what we have been up to this week:
Religion- We have been talking about Jesus ministry
here on earth, and how he was tempted by the devil. We discussed Ash Wednesday and talked about
all of the way we are tempted too…and just need to ask the Holy Spirit guide us
to make good decisions, and to use Scripture, just like Jesus did! We will not have memory work next week.
Language Arts-We read a story entitled “Jose! Born to Dance!” This was the short biography of Jose Limon,
and how he overcame obstacles to do what he loved.
Math- We worked with prime and composite this week,
as well as finding factors and multiples.
Next week, fractions begin! I
would like to give a shout out to Kamryn who passed her Winstead’s test
today! Whoop! Whoop!
Science/Social Studies-We took our Science test over
our unit on the Animal and Plant Kingdoms
and we did well! Next week, we will be
working in our Missouri History books again, and learning about the Native
Americans that first inhabited the United States—their way of life, their
dwellings, beliefs, etc.
Art- We made valentines for shut-ins and worked on
our “Will You Be Mine?” pictures. Check
them out in the hall!
Writing-We worked on our persuasive essays. Many are at the publishing step. These will be due next Friday. We are going to spend a couple of days in the
Computer Lab working on these.
P.E.-This week, we took a hike in the woods to find
sticks for an art project. It was fun
and refreshing to be outdoors!
Have a great LONG weekend!
God’s Blessings,
Kim
Friends shared their Historical Fiction Reports.
Fun at our Valentine Party!
