Happy Easter!

Dear Parents,
This has been a fun week!  We have kept busy, and have been working hard!
*THANK YOU to Aimee Hirsch who accompanied us to the ECC’s Flower Power party.  We had fun being the “big kids” and helping our preschool friends have fun.  4th graders were great Christian examples, and I was SO very proud!   :)

*Harvesters Update: We collected 736 pounds of food for Harvesters, providing 614 meals for families in our region.  Way to go, Rams!
Our 3-4 Graders (homeschool, too!) go to Harvesters NEXT THURSDAY, April 5th!  If your child is NOT going, please let me know as soon as possible so we can allocate volunteers and driving assignments appropriately.   We also have a few too many drivers, which never seems to happen.  They are very strict on their numbers, and we can only take 28 people.  Right now, we have 30 going.  If you would mind not going, please let me know.  Thank you, and I am sorry about this.  We will be leaving school at 9:15.  We will return to school around 12:30.  Students should pack a sack lunch, as they will quickly eat in their classrooms before resuming their afternoon of classes.

The following are important things you need to know about volunteering with Harvesters:
Children under the age of 8 are not permitted in the warehouse for safety reasons.
             Closed toed shoes are required.
Dress casually (jeans and t-shirts, and sweatshirts to layer in the winter)
Please leave all valuable jewelry at home. This includes rings which may come off in the packing process.
No food, gum, or drinks are permitted in the warehouse.
Cell phone usage is not permitted in the warehouse.
All volunteers must be free of contagious illness (runny nose, colds, the flu, strep throat, etc.)

Parking is limited so please carpool. Visitor parking is available in front of the building and in an overflow lot across the street. If spots fill, please limit street parking to the east side (closest to the building) so semi-trucks can safely access our facility. Please enter through the Volunteer Entrance (under the red awning).

*Our musical, The Rock Slinger and His Greatest Hit, is here, Friday, April 13th at 6:30.  Our band students will also have their very first performance, so it will be an exciting night!  You won’t want to miss it!  Please let me know if your child will be unable to attend.  We have been practicing SO hard, and have been working on costumes, etc., so we will need to know.  Thank you so much for your help!

*Trivia Night is Friday, April 20, 2018 at 8 P.M. here at Timothy!  It’s 80’s night!  (I am getting old, but OH…Weren’t the 80’s fun?!?!)  Please come and join the fun, and reserve your table now!

Here is what else we have been up to:
Religion: We have been talking about Jesus calming the storm, and working right alongside His disciples to share the news of Him!  We also discussed with Pastor Rich in Chapel yesterday about how God is the only One who creates—makes something out of nothing.  He created us in His image, and sent Jesus to die and save us from our sins…defeating the devil, and then rising again on Easter FOR US!

Language Arts: We gave our book reports today, and did a GREAT job!  We have been reading Invisible Stanley, and will test over this story next Friday.

Math-We learned how to subtract like fractions, put them in simplest form, and solve word problems with fractions.

Missouri History-We began chapter 4—The Statehood of Missouri. We discussed farming, other early jobs, and modes of transportation.  We will learn about the Civil War next week!  We will also begin our School of Economics discussions!

This week in…
Art-We made butterflies with napkins, water colors, clothes pins and pipe cleaners.  They are hanging in the room, and are beautiful!  Please pop in and see them!

Writing-We reviewed the steps to creating paragraphs, and wrote several on our own and shared them!

P.E.-We are doing yoga in the classroom!

Music-We practiced the music, songs, and lyrics for the musical.

Have a Blessed Easter!  Christ is Risen—He is Risen Indeed!  Alleluia!

Blessings,
Kim
