Dear Parents,
This has been such a fun and busy week!
*Harvesters Update: As a school, we collected 736 pounds of
food for Harvesters, providing 614 meals for families in our region. We went to Harvesters on Thursday and
volunteered our time packing and sorting meals for kiddos in the K.C. area--675
of them! Woohoo! All
the students did a great job! Way to go,
Rams!
*Preschool through 8th grades sing at church this
Sunday, at the north site, at the 8:30 and 9:45 services. Please meet in the sanctuary at 8:10. We will sing, and then your child can either
come and sit with you, or they can go to Faith Roots (Sunday School). Then, please stay, as they will be the
opening for the 9:45 service as well.
They are then welcome to leave! Wear
Timothy gear or school colors (navy, red).
Thank you!
*Our musical, “The Rock Slinger and His Greatest Hit,” is
here, Friday, April 13th at 6:30. Our
band students will also have their very first performance, so it will be an
exciting night! You won’t want to miss
it! We have been practicing hard! Students will need to bring the following
items for the full dress rehearsal of our musical “The Rock Slinger and His
Greatest Hit” on NEXT Tuesday, April 10:
• Tan,
brown, gray, or denim shorts
• A plain
colored shirt preferably with no writing
• Tan,
brown, or black sandals or flip flops
We will provide a tunic type costume for each student to
wear over their clothes. Students may wear their shorts and shirts to school
that day or bring them in a bag with their name on it to change into
later. For the program, they will need to come with their shirt, shorts, and
sandals on.
On the NIGHT OF THE PERFORMANCE: (Friday, April 13)
• The
students need to arrive by 6:00 PM and go to their classroom.
• The band
people will meet in the Music room and
• The rest
of the main characters will meet in the spare classroom across from the 7th
& 8th grade room.
*Trivia Night is Friday, April 20, 2018 at 6 P.M. here at
Timothy! It’s 80’s night! Please come and join the fun, and reserve
your table now!
*The 4th-6th Graders will be going to the School of
Economics on Tuesday, April 24.
o The cost
for this field trip is $15. Students will NOT need to pack a lunch, as this fee
includes food for them. **If your child has food allergies and would rather
bring in their own food out of safety concerns, that is preferred!! Please speak with me about this. (Volunteers do NOT need to pay the fee, but
your lunch is included, too.)
o Our day
ends there at 2:00, so we should return to school between 2:15-2:30. We are so excited for this!
Here is what else we have been up to:
Religion: We discussed the parable of the Foolish
Rich Man. Why be greedy with your
earthly treasures, when we cannot take them with us? God calls us to be servants to others.
Language Arts: We read Invisible Stanley, and
completed our literature circle assignments.
Next week, we will receive directions for our last book reports, where
we will be reading biographies about famous Missourians. We will be picking out these books at
school, and working on our projects here too, so the students do not need to do
any work at home except read!
Math-We learned how to add and subtract mixed numbers
and how to put them in simplest form.
Missouri History-We worked on chapter 4, discussing
Missouri’s role in the Civil War. We
shared the book, Pink and Say, by Patricia Polacco, which is based on a
true story of friendship during the Civil War, and we also are sharing a
biography about Harry S. Truman. In
addition, we have begun our School of Economics studies. Students learned all about the jobs, what the
jobs entail, the businesses we will have, and began filling out
applications. Applications are due on
Monday, and interviews will take place then.
Students know to take this seriously and to be prepared!
This week in…
Art-We drew and painted pictures about our favorite
memories. We studied paintings by the
artists Norman Rockwell and Mary Engelbreit.
Writing-We reviewed the steps to creating paragraphs,
and wrote several on our own and shared them!
P.E.-We began working on track and field
events---conditioning, long jump, and sprinting.
Music-We practiced the music, songs, and lyrics for
the musical.
Blessings,
Kim
