Dear Parents,
I hope this note finds you well! We have had a fun week at school. :) We
attended School of Economics this week, and had so much fun! I was so proud of the kids and their stellar
behavior, how well they worked with the other school, and how well they worked
in their places of employment. Each of
our shops paid off their loans! Our bank
president, Miss Hadlee Ryan, helped the bank become the biggest earner of the
day! It was a great learning experience
for all. THANK YOU to our amazing
parents that helped out! You are the
best!
*Next Thursday is also our first official Rams Run!!! We are HOSTING a cross-country meet and need
some help. Would you be willing to help
us make this a successful event for these athletes (and help show off how
AWESOME our TLS family is)? Here is the
sign-up with more details: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090e4bafaf2ca46-timothy
Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
Religion: We are learning all about Jesus clearing
the temple, and what righteous anger is.
We had some very enlightening classroom discussions about this. We also discussed the Last Supper.
Language Arts: For Literature Circles, we have begun
the book, “Dr. Mr. Henshaw,” by Beverly Cleary.
We will continue reading this novel next week.
I am postponing the due date for the book reports to next
Friday, May 4th. We will
continue working on these projects in class next week. The book just needs to be read by April 30th. Books will come home this weekend. Please make sure your child brings his or her
book to school every day to work on the project. Thank you!
Math-We have been changing fractions into decimals,
finding equivalent decimals, and putting them in order. We will test over Unit 9 next week.
Missouri History-Students have received their final
study guide! This will be over main
facts about Missouri. Our test will be
Friday, May 4th. We are also working
on our famous Missourian biography rugs (projects). These will be completed next week, and ready
to share! We will display these at our
Famous Missourian Living Museum on May 16th, from 9:30-11:30. Please mark your calendars! At this museum, your child will dress as his
or her famous Missourian, and say a few facts about their person, all the while
pretending that he or she is a statue that has come to life. (Think: “Night at the Museum.”) I always tell the kids not spend money…Please
just use what you have on hand! If you
need any advice, please let me know.
They will need these props/costumes by May 15th.
Science-We will begin our final unit next week.
This week in…
Art/Writing-We worked on our Biography Rugs—creating
portraits of our famous Missourians, and writing down important facts.
P.E.-We worked on track and field events---conditioning,
long jump, and some obstacle courses!
Music-We are working on our recorders! Please make sure your child brings his or her
recorder every Tuesday!
God’s Blessings on your weekend,
Kim
Lakeside Nature Center came and visited us on Monday morning. Timothy member, Mary Smead, helped organize the visit! Thank you, Mary! They brought a barred owl, a turkey vulture, an opossum, and a snake to share with us. They talked about an opportunity for the kids to volunteer their time there, so please check out the handouts that came home. Some of my 4th graders were VERY interested!
Bethany's cross-country meet... Go, Kamryn!
