Hello! This has been
an AMAZING week!
First of all, this past Wednesday was a VERY special day!
Not only did Pastor Rod deliver a message about Jesus freeing us from sin, but our
own 4th grader, Nicole, was baptized! We pray God will continue to grow her faith
with every passing day. She chose Mrs. Krekel, to be her sponsor. It was an
awesome, awesome morning! God is SO very
good!
Here are several other announcements:
*We received dictionaries today from Myrna Mardis, a
representative from Blue Springs Optimist Club. We had some great conversations with
her! Please make sure that you look for
the handout in your child’s Friday Folder that share about some of the other
neat things the Optimist Club does.
*Timothy Lutheran School will be having our second annual
Walk-A-Thon NEXT Friday, September 28, 1:30-2:30 pm. Proceeds from the Walk-A-Thon will go towards
Timothy’s Playground Expansion Project.
We encourage you to ask family members, neighbors, and friends if they’d
like to support your child as they walk to grow and improve our school. We will keep track of the number of laps
walked for those pledging per lap, or sponsors may also pledge a set amount,
regardless of the number of laps walked.
We would love to have you join us!
There was a pledge sheet sent home, and there is also a way to donate
online on our school website:
We also need some volunteers to keep track of laps, bring in
snacks, etc. Please sign-up if you can!
*MID-QUARTER REPORTS COME HOME TODAY - these are the
“informal” reports we send home halfway through every quarter. While you may already know what your child’s
scores look like, this is a good time for teachers to provide some insight to
parents on successes- or struggles-to-date.
We would like these forms signed and returned as soon as possible.
Here is what we have been up to this week:
Religion- We discussed the stories of Sodom and
Gomorrah, as well as how God tested Abraham’s faith when He asked him to
sacrifice his son, Isaac. We talked a
lot about trust, and how we place our trust in others and most importantly, in
God.
Memory for next week:
September 25-
Hebrews
James
1 & 2 Peter
1 , 2, 3 John
Jude
Revelation
September 28-Recite all of the New Testament Books
Language Arts- We read chapters 3-6 of Tales of a
Fourth Grade Nothing. The students are
really enjoying this story! There has
been a lot of laughter in here! They are
getting to be pros at checking for understanding, identifying challenging
vocabulary, and using expression while reading.
We will finish this book up next week!
Spelling Words for the Week of September 28th:
Chapters 7-10 of Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing
mumbling, temper, tantrum, demonstrate, aisle, peered, beckoned,
dreary, whisked, beamed, * Challenge Word: courteous
Math- This week, we worked on estimating sums and
differences by rounding. There were some
struggles on this, so we spend more time on it than I had intended, BUT I think
we have a lot of mastery going on in here!
Next week, we will work with adding and subtracting whole numbers into
the millions, and subtracting across zeroes.
Social Studies- We share our oral history
reports. We learned so much from each
other and from our special people that we interviewed!

We also finished up our first chapter in Missouri History. We reviewed vocabulary and state symbols today using a Jeopardy game. This was so much fun! I will be sending this link home to you too, so your child can practice. Study guides came home as well. Test is Monday!!! They are ready!
