Hi, Parents! It’s been another fun week!
Important info:
*Our Christmas musical, “A Stranger in the Manger,” is
TONIGHT! Please have your child here by
6:30 in their classroom. They are
supposed to wear nice church clothes, unless wearing a costume. We have been practicing so hard! Thank you!
*Next Thursday, we are heading to Lunar Bowl to bowl from
9:00-11:00. Please send in $4.00 for
bowling. We will come back to school for
lunch, and then head to Benton House to carol to the residents. We will need drivers for each, so please send
in the permission slip that came home this week, to give your kiddo permission
and to indicate if you can drive. Thank
you!
*On Friday, we will be having our “Polar Express”
party! We will watch the movies in our
pj’s have HOT CHOCOLATE! ;) Your child can wear pjs to school (please
also send tennis shoes) and bring a pillow and blanket. This is a fun 4th grade
tradition! We get out at 1:00 on
Friday.
*We have planned out National Lutheran Schools’ Week, and a
note will be coming home with all the details after the new year. However, if your child would like to participate
in the talent show, please mark your calendars!
Tryouts will be after school, in the music room, on January 17th. Thank you!
Religion-This week, we learned about David and
Goliath and how David became king. We
tested over this unit today. THANK YOU
for donating money to help a child in need this Christmas! We were able to give her $85 towards a new
bicycle! Praise God!
Memory next week:
December 18- What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not
entice or force away our neighbor’s wife, workers, or animals, or turn them
against him, but urge them to stay and do their duty.
December 21- We will have a short matching test over the
commandments.
Language Arts:
We read the story, “Sacajawea” this week. This was the nonfiction story of her
life. We learned a lot about her, Lewis
and Clark, as well as some facts about Missouri! For DEAR time, we finished up “Indian in
the Cupboard,” by Lynn Reid Banks, and celebrated today by watching the
movie. There will not be spelling
words next week.
Math- This week, we have learned how to multiply
three and four-digit numbers by one-digit numbers, and how to multiply across
zeroes. Next week, we will test over
this skill before Christmas break!
Science-We have been studying plants! This week, we observed leaves of different
kinds of plants, noting how they were alike and different. We also learned how food travels through a
plant by observing celery with food coloring.
It was so interesting! Next week,
we will finish up this chapter and test over it. Lots of Science/Math next week!
SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- We worked on your Christmas gifts!
Writing-We worked on our persuasive essays, and will
finish these next week.
