Hello, Parents! I
hope you are doing well. It was
wonderful seeing you this week at Morning with Mom! We have had a great week!
*Our Science Fair is today—from 3:45-5:00. Please come and enjoy the projects! Everything looks SO amazing! I am so very impressed!
*Next Wednesday, March 13th, is a special day for
our school! If possible, have students
wear TLS gear/colors (red and blue).
There will be someone here to take some promotional pictures/video for
our school! *Only students with signed photo releases will be in these
images. Thank you so much for your help!
*Next Friday, March 15th, we will be traveling to Coterie
Theatre, located inside Crown Center, 2450 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108,
to see the play “Mr. Popper's Penguins.” This is the play based on the book we are
reading in class by Richard and Florence Atwater. We will leave school at 8:45 and return by
12:00, just in time for lunch, and our 1:00 dismissal. We will need several drivers for this field
trip! All tickets, students and parents,
are $5.50. I have paid for this in full,
so please send in cash or checks addressed to me. Please look at the sign-up,
even if you cannot attend. There is a
space for you to sign-up your kiddo to go.
Thank you! I have
reserved 20 seats for us, and we have A
LOT more seats available. :)
*Emails about our track season were sent out last week! Our
first practice is March 19th, from 3:45-5:00.
Please let me know if your child would like to join our team, or if you
have any questions.
*Wednesday, March 20, both of our school ministries, ECC and
TLS, will host the Lenten dinner at RD Mize from 4:45 – 6:15. Here are two
links to sign up to help that evening.

*Spring Musical - kids are working hard preparing for
our performance of “Go, Go Jonah!” For costuming, your child needs to bring
in a plain white t-shirt by March 20th. We will have a tie-dying party here at school
that week! Ms. MacLean let us know that Hobby Lobby has nice, preshrunk
white t-shirts for $2.79. :)
*Standardized testing week is coming up March
18-22! Please make sure your child has a
good night’s sleep, and a healthy breakfast each morning. More details will come home soon!
*A FUN fundraising night is coming up! Mark your calendars for Friday, March 22, and
come to our annual Trivia Night (this year has a superhero theme!). Tickets will be going on sale soon for either
$20/person or $150 table. (Don’t have a
whole table? No worries! We can find a table for you and you can meet
some new friends.) Our 7th/8th Grade
students often use this night to work the concessions stand and raise money
toward their class trip. Please come! It is so much fun!
Here is what we have been up to:
Religion- This week, we learned about Jesus’ first
miracle—turning water into wine. We
discussed how God helps us solve all our problems with the best solutions. His wisdom is infinite!
Memory for next week: (from the hymn, “What a Friend
We Have in Jesus!”)
March 12-Oh, what peace we often forfeit;
Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
March 15-Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Language Arts- This week, we read the story about
friendship, track, and running entitled “Moon Runner.” We had great conversations about sportsmanship
and trying your best.
Spelling Words for Friday, March 15th: (from “The
Right Dog for the Job” ) We will take our test when we get back from our field
trip.
glance, judge, damage, package, twice, stage, carriage,

Math-This week, we learned how to divide when there
are zeroes in the quotient and also how to solve multi-step word problems that
includes long division. We also learned how to play Multiplication Math War!
Science-We finished the book, “Mr. Popper’s Penguins”
today, and watched a video about emperor penguins. We learned so many new facts! We also got our science fair projects set up
for the fair tonight! Next week, we will learn about all of the different systems
in animals and what each system does.
Art-We learned about Roy G. Biv and created pictures
about him. Ask you kiddo for
details! ;)
P.E.-This week, we played a ball game called Monster
Snowball Fight! It was fun!
Writing-This week, we interviewed our moms, and are
going to write a research report about them!
The students will continue their interviews at home. These are due back at school next Tuesday,
