*Midterms came home on Monday. Please go over this report with your child on
Monday and sign and return the bottom portion.
Thanks!
*Today was the Walk-A-Thon, and we all had SO much fun! The weather was perfect, and a fun time was
had by all! You can still donate: https://timothylutheranschool.com/walkathon/
*The book fair begins this afternoon, so come and join
us! We are still in need of some
workers! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C054CA5A628A3F94-fall2.
*Our class has earned another STAR party! They have voted to watch a movie on Monday
afternoon. They are welcome to bring
snacks (either personal or to share), and either a pillow or a blanket. :)
*We have had a change for our Fall/Harvest Party at the end
of next month. (October 31) Due to
illness, we will not be going to Memaw and Pa Ron’s this year. However, we will have our party here at
school. I will still plan a fun
scavenger hunt and some games. I will be
sending home a note soon about sending in some snacks. It will still be a super-fun day.
Here is what we have been up to this week:
Religion- We talked all about Joseph and his
brothers, and Job and his amazing faith!
We discussed how when we have days that are like “a hard knock life” or
a “no good, very bad day,” we need to remember that God is in charge, He loves
us, and we are SO VERY blessed on SO many levels! We had some great discussions about integrity and lifting one another
up.
Next week’s Memory:
10/1-
Hebrews
James
1 and 2 Peter
1 , 2, and 3 John
Jude
Revelation
10/4-Recite all of the New Testament Books
Language Arts- We read a story as a whole class about
immigration and becoming United states citizens entitled, “A Very Important
Day.” We loved this story and getting to
“know” all of those families on their very important day. We also had some great discussions about
being allegiant to our amazing country and all the blessings we have here. Just a reminder to 4th
graders: book reports are due next
Monday!
Spelling Words for Friday, October 4th:
3rd Grade-from the story “Roberto
Clemente: Pride of the Pittsburgh Pirates”

tight, blind, fight, die, midnight, silent, frightening, Challenge Word:

4th Grade- from the story “Focus on Plays”

Math- 3rd and 4th graders
reviewed addition properties, sequencing and patterns, and began longer
addition. Next week, we will work on
subtraction.
Social Studies- We took our first Missouri History
test on Monday, and ALL of the students did well! We voted on our class flag and seal, choosing
one of our own creations, and Lily is our big winner! She will make a larger one that we will
laminate and hang in our classroom.
After we visit School of Economics, we will begin Chapter 2 about the
regions in Missouri, and learn from maps of landforms, rivers, bordering
states, etc.
School of Economics-This week, we heard our mayoral
speeches from six candidates and ALL did so well! Their campaign posters were the best we have
seen! They were terrific! Our mayor is… (drumroll, please!) MISS ADDI
MACLEAN! She did a great job, as well as
the others, and it was a tight race. (I have to give a big shout out to our own
4th grade candidate, Vera, Bruders, who did an outstanding job! Well done).
:) Next week, all of the other
students will find out their jobs at the School of Economics and we will begin
meeting in shops to discuss pricing, paying off loans, etc. We also watched the movie “The American
Tail,” which was an animated version of
coming to America and experiencing Ellis Island from a mouse’s point of
view. Students had to give an analysis
on three of the main characters. They
all enjoyed that immensely and it swept me back to 6th grade. ;) I
do believe I just aged myself…
SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- We used our knowledge about adjectives to choose
10 about ourselves. Then we used the
knowledge of mixing paint to create colorful waves and are adding those
adjectives to them to make “I Am…” pictures.
These are beautiful and will be on display soon!
Computer Lab and Writers’ Workshop- We finished
publishing our BioPoems and began drafting personal narratives!
P.E.- We played Dodgeball and Pin Dodgeball this
week!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings,
Kim
