Fall is Here! ;)

Hello!
*Our BEST news this week is that we welcomed a new 3rd grade home-school student, Nara, to our classroom this week!  We have had so much fun getting to you know you!  Welcome, Nara!

*We had a lot of fun at the Walk-A-Thon last week!  In fact, our class calculated a total of 172 laps a whole!  Goodness—I am SO proud! You can still donate up until October 10th:  https://timothylutheranschool.com/walkathon/
*Donuts with Dad is this coming up Wednesday, October 9th, from 7:45-8:15.  This is a special day for dads or another special person to join us before school for some breakfast and fun.  Hope you can come!
*We do not have school next Thursday and Friday, October 10th and 11th, because teachers will be away at a conference (LEA) in St. Louis.  Please pray for our safe travel.  Thank you!
*We will have our School of Economics field trip on Tuesday, October 16th, and we will need some helpers—drivers AND people that will stay and work/monitor students.  Even if you cannot help, please check out this sign-up genius form to get informed. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4dadab2da7f58-school There is a $5.00 charge for all students.  (PTL so graciously has covered the other $10.00 per student.)  Thank you!
*Please note the change in our Fall Party.  We will have this during the day at school on October 31st.  Thank you for understanding…

Here is what we have been up to this week:
Religion- We have learned the story of Moses, the 10 Plagues, and the Exodus out of Egypt.  We watched pieces of the movie, “The Prince of Egypt,” and contrasted and compared it to the Bible story.  Today, the students shared some personal stories about times that they knew that God was with them, or times that they knew God sent someone special to protect them.  These were such inspiring stories!  I am amazed daily at the faith of your children.  Thank you for sharing them with me…

Next week’s Memory:
10/8- Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me,  I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see.

Language Arts- This week, third graders read the short biography, “Roberto Clemente.”  This was such an interesting, emotional, and fact-filled story.  Fourth graders read the play, “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing,”  based on Chapter 2 of the book.  They have been practicing the skit like crazy, and are going to perform it for the second graders and third graders next Wednesday.  J

We will not have spelling words next week!

Math- Third graders worked on estimating and adding whole numbers with regrouping.  Fourth graders worked on adding, subtracting, and estimating whole numbers up to the ten thousand.  Please keep working on facts at home!

School of Economics-This week, we found out our jobs and met with shops.  We competed passports, worked on signs, and today we filled out loan applications.   Next week, we will price our items in hopes to pay off our loans that day that we visit!  As you read above, we will need helpers that day!  Please read the Sign-Up for more details.  Please also send in $5.00 for your child.  This day will be such a day of learning and fun.  We are so excited to attend, and are so thankful that our PTL is helping us out!

SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- We finished painting out our “I AM…” pictures.  We also made woven paper pumpkins.  These are brightening up our hallway down here in the 3rd/4th Grade Land!  ;)

Computer Lab and Writers’ Workshop- We continued writing personal narratives and publishing these in Computer Lab.
P.E.- We played Pin Dodgeball and Dr. Dodgeball this week!

Have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings,
Kim
