Merry Christmas!

Hi! Whew!  Does anyone else feel like this week has been a whirlwind?!  We made it!  ;)

I hope you were able to spend some fun time on Monday with your kiddos and our Snow Day!  On Tuesday, it was wonderful to hang out with some of you as we bowled and caroled.  I appreciated our class so much!  They had a lot of fun with each other at Lunar Bowl, as we danced and celebrated to some great Christian music! I was also so proud as the students shared their faith with the poem, Bible verses, and songs they shared with the residents at Benton house.  On Wednesday night, we had an amazing Christmas Program!

We showed the love of CHRIST this week, and I could not be more proud!  Thank you for your help with everything!!!

Thursday was actually a “normal” day of school for us, and today we partied with Polar Express and hot cocoa!

Here is what we have been up to this week:
Religion- We talked about David and his sin.  We especially focused on the story of David and Bathsheba and the 6th commandment.  We had some very mature conversations where we focused on how God expects us to try to lead a pure life.  We also looked up some Bible verses that remind us what to do when he have tough choices to make—we turn to God, use His Word, and remember that He forgives us!

Memory when we return:
1/7- THE TENTH COMMANDMENT
You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
1/10- What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not entice or force away our neighbor’s wife, workers, or animals, or turn them against him, but urge them to stay and do their duty.

Language Arts- We focused on literature!  We finally finished Indian in the Cupboard, and read some books by Chris VanAllsburg, including Polar Express.  We practiced correcting a “really messed-up” friendly letter, and wrote letters some loved ones.

Spelling when we return: January 10th:
3rd-from the story, “The Science Fair”-hole, whole, its, it’s, hear, here, won, one, our, hour, their, there, fur, fir, peace, piece, *incredulously
4th- from the story, “Harvesting Hope”-colorful, weakness, movement, endless, truthful, illness, cheerful, useless, beautiful, restless, clumsiness, pavement, peaceful, fondness, neatness, speechless, statement, wasteful, penniless, treatment, numbness, ailment, *incredulously

Math- Third graders tested over Chapter 5, and now have begun to work on memorizing multiplication facts!  We began multiplication mad minutes and are working hard.  Fourth graders have been solving 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication problems and solving multi-step word problems, by writing equations with variables, and solving.  We will continue this after break!

Art: We made your Christmas gifts and cards this week!  We also made gingerbread man glyphs that show how much we love snow!  ;)
Writing: This week, we wrote friendly letters and Christmas cards.
P.E.: Basketball Skills: shooting!
Music:  We practiced for our program and then celebrated on Thursday by watching a video of it!

*Just a reminder: DR. DAWN CALLAHAN DENNIS will be visiting our classrooms within the next couple of weeks.  This is a continuation of our Professional Development that our staff here at Timothy has been participating in the last few years.  Thank you!
