It’s Friday! We have had a great week. :)

 Hi!

 Important information:

THANK YOU! – to all of the families that made it to the mulch party this past Saturday. We had over 70 volunteers! We successfully spread both playgrounds in 2 ½ hours!  Praise God for His many gifts!

*Today is the middle of the second quarter.  Mid-Terms will come home on Tuesday.

*Our classroom Thanksgiving Feast is this coming Monday, November 23rd.  The little Pilgrims and Wampanoags in here are SO EXCITED!  Please just send in food that morning.  I will store it in the fridge or in crockpots here in the room, if needed.  THANK YOU for your help with this!

*Our Christmas Program is December 16th at 5:30 in the school auditorium.  It is during Timothy’s Advent Service.  Only the 5th-8th grade will be presenting live.  PK-4th grade will be pre-recording their songs, etc.  Thank you for your support and understanding.

Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:

Religion- We have learned this week about how Jesus is our Prophet, Protector, Priest, and King.  We have talked about Advent and the Christmas story, and have also talked about how Jesus promises that He will one day come again!  We are blessed beyond measure!

Memory for next week:  (my favorite)

11/24-THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT: Honor your father and your mother.  What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not despise or anger our parents and other authorities.

Reading/Social Studies- We learned all about the Pilgrims and Wampanoags this week!  The students each “assumed” a role, and changed their name for the week.  We have studied all about the Pilgrims’ trip on the Mayflower, their interactions with the Wampanoag, and the peace that lasted for about 50 years.  I hope some cool stories have come home about all they have learned!  We created some Wampanoag art using paper bags and markers.  We even made a Pilgrim village today!  That was fun!   With our short week next week, there will not be spelling words or a new reading selection next week.

Math- Third graders have been busy using multiplication to solve step-by-step problems.  They tested over these skills today.  Fourth graders have been working with 2-digit multiplication and are doing well!

Science-We have learned all about plants and plant parts.  When we return after Thanksgiving break, we will do a few fun experiments with plants, so we can learn how they work.

 SPECIAL CLASSES

Art-We finished up our self-portraits of ourselves in the future.

Writing-This week, we wrote paragraphs about what we wanted to be when we grow up.  We also wrote and shared what our families do on Thanksgiving.  It was fun to hear about these traditions!

Computer Lab-We have all our laptops now!  What a blessing!  We are busy publishing our works.

Music- We are practicing our Christmas songs!

P.E. – This week, we stretched, ran, and then enjoyed our new playground during P.E. time.

Spanish-Students learned about numbers in Spanish.

May God bless your weekend,

Kim Brunkhorst
