Have a Blessed Weekend...

Hi, Parents!  I hope you all are well…

First and foremost, I would like to ask for you to please pray for our Pastor Ryan and his girls, Carmen and Heidi.  As many of you know, his wife, Robin, joined her Savior this week.  We pray for God’s comfort and peace, as we know that He has His arms around beautiful Robin, and our earthly grieving is still real.  He promises us in His Word:  “My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” ~Psalm 62:1

Thank you, Timothy Family…

Services will be at our R.D. Mize site on Saturday, January 22nd.  Here are details:

Here is what we have been up to this week:

RELIGION- We discussed Elijah and the Prophets of Baal and Elijah going to heaven.  We learned what the inside of Solomon’s temple was like, and why different parts of it were there.  We studied the Ark of The Covenant.  We also learned that many promises about Jesus were made through Elijah, and how he helped pave the way for the Lord!  Pastor Rod gave the message at Chapel on Wednesday.  He reminded us that we are washed clean in the waters of Holy Baptism.

MEMORY next week: 1/18 (When we return to school!)- We will have a short matching test over the commandments.

1/21-The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

LANGUAGE ARTS- We learned all about young Martin Luther King Jr., in the book My Brother Martin by his sister, Christine King Farris.  It was so very insightful into his young life!  We also read several other books about Martin, including Martin’s Words by Doreen Rappaport. This book inspired our art work and writing assignment for later in the week.  The most important thing we learned from Martin:  Love, not hate.  He promoted the peaceful protest and standing up for others and for love.  Next week, we will discuss his impact in the world more when we read the story, Happy Birthday Dr. King

SPELLING WORDS for Friday, January 21st: (from Happy Birthday, Dr. King!)

peaceful, protest, fare, injustice, boycott, civil rights, dream, equality, freedom, movement, treatment, kindness, *stupendous

MATH- We have been practicing ling division with 2 and 3 digit numbers, and with zeroes.  We continue to learn how to interpret the remainders.  I am proud of these 4th graders and their hard work!

SCIENCE- We are studying the world of plants!  We formed Science groups on Wednesday and researched two different types of leaves.  We observ3ed, asked questions, inferred, and made some educated guesses.  Each 4th grade scientist had a special job when working with his or her group:  They were either a Director, ad Facilitator, a Materials Manager, a Technician, or a Participant.  I was able to witness some great teamwork!  Today, we learned more about the plant kingdom, including the job of seeds, the role of roots and stems, and why leaves are so important.

SOCIAL STUDIES- We learned all about Martin Luther King, Jr. and his life this week.  We also discussed several topics in our Scholastic News, including  some information about the people in Afghanistan, and a review of important events in 2021.

SPECIAL CLASSES

Art- We drew and painted portraits of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Health-  We have begun Health class!  This week, we talked about the food groups, and how food nourishes us.  We planned a healthy meal.

P.E.- This week, we played a fun dodgeball game called “Swap Ball.”

Computer- This week, we either published a story we have been working on, practiced Typing Web, or practiced multiplication facts.

Music- We practiced our class act for the Talent Show!

Writing-  We each thought about our “DREAM” for the world and the future, and wrote about these.  We shared these in Readers’ Theatre!

God's Blessings,

Kim

Aren't they handsome altogether?!

Beautiful dreams from our 4th graders!
