Happy Fall Fun Fest Weekend! :)

Dear 4th Grade Parents,

It has been a beautiful week!  Thank you for taking the time to read this note and see what we have coming up and what we have been up to!  ;)

 Please don’t forget:

*Timothy Lutheran will be walking in the Blue Springs Fall Fun Fest PARADE this Saturday, September 17th!  We are the 54th. Please line up at 9:30 at 2103 NW Vesper St. This is the Blue Springs High School Freshman Center. There is a circle drive in front of the building. This is where you will find our float. The theme is Super Heroes, so if you need to dust off that cape or Super Suit, now is the time! We can also just wear our Rams t-shirts, uniforms, or Timothy colors (red, blue, white).  The parade ends at St. John LaLande on R.D. Mize Road.  We ask that parents walk (or ride) with your kiddos, please.  Mrs. Hatcher has been working on the songs the kiddos will sing while we walk too!  What a way to show share the love of Jesus and show our Rams pride!

*There is CROSSWALK on Wednesday nights for these kiddos!  Children pre-k thru 5th grade, come hang out with us on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8pm at Crosswalk at our Timothy Lutheran Ministries NORTH CAMPUS (425 NW RD MIZE).  There will be songs, crafts, Bible lessons, friends, snacks, and all kinds of fun.  Parents, you can register your kiddos with the on the information desk at school or on our website https://www.timothylutheran.com/childrens-ministry/

Any questions, please contact Pastor Ryan ryanh@timothylutheran.com.

*It is time to order TLS SPIRIT WEAR! The store will be open for the next 2 weeks. It will close at 11:59 pm on September 21. Here is your link to order: https://tls2022.itemorder.com/

*Timothy Lutheran School’s 6th annual WALK-A-THON is Friday, September 23rd!  We are hosting this fundraiser to raise funds for our school-- classroom tools and updated materials, as well as helping teachers with continuing education and training.  All students will participate by getting pledges and completing laps around the school’s parking lots.

Pledges can be online!   Please click here: https://timothylutheranschool.com/walkathon/

We also need volunteers to assist during the Walk-a-Thon to make it a success!  We will be walking from 1:30-2:30 pm.  Please use this link to volunteer: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4dadab2da7f58-timothy

THANK YOU!

*Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up--September 29th and 30th.  We get out at 1:00 both days.  I will need to end early on Friday night, as we are headed out of town.  I have added some other time slots to hopefully aid you in finding a time that is suitable for your family.  This is a parent/teacher conference only, but children are welcome to hang out in the hallways during the conference.  These conferences are for full-time kiddos only.  We will be discussing grades, classroom behavior, and some of their special work.  I am looking forward to visiting with each of you!  Thank you!   Please use this link to sign-up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4DADAB2DA7F58-1stquarter1

*For those of you who missed picture day, Re-take day is Friday morning, October 21st!

* THANK YOU, to all of you who donated supplies, time, sweat, (and maybe a few blisters), for our Mulch Party. We had over 30 volunteers and got the job done in a little over an hour!  Way to go, Timothy Family!

Here is what we have been up to this week:

RELIGION- One of my highlights that we do every day, is that we have devotions every morning, followed by highs and lows, which is always so wonderful, as I get an insight into the children’s’ lives that I normally would not get the chance to see.  It is so wonderful… We always then pray for one another and give each other a blessing.  This week, we discussed the relationship of Abram and his nephew Lot, and the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, and God’s promises to Abram.  We discussed God’s Laws and His expectations of us, as well as the Good News of the Gospel—that we cannot by ourselves follow God’s Law perfectly, but JESUS did it for us!  Because if this, we get to live with him forever!

This week we also discussed the tragedies of September 11th, 2001.  We watched a short video about this fateful day, and also read several books and had a very candid discussion.  We made a beautiful book about our thoughts…This led to a great discussion about God and His love for us.  We shared the Bible verse Romans 8: 38-39….and discussed how God will never, ever leave us.  We used this verse to illustrate our thoughts of 9/11.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.~ Romans 8: 38-39

LANGUAGE ARTS- We read a story called “The Power of W.O.W.”  This was a fabulous story about youth coming together to “fight” for a cause they believed in, which in this case was saving their traveling library, as funds had been cut.  We then practiced putting on a play.  Next week, we will invite some 3rd graders to come and watch us!  They are doing a fantastic job and showed real collaboration as they worked as a team!
