Hi, 4th Grade Parents!
It has been a wonderful, fun-filled week! Fall is here!
:)
*THANK YOU to all who helped and donated to the WALK-A-THON today! Even though it rained, we moved the festivities inside and went with the flow! It still was so much FUN!!! Your prayers and support mean the world to us! Please send in donations (with the form) by October 3rd. You still have time to get them. Remember there is also the online route: https://timothylutheranschool.com/walkathon/
*Mrs. Anderson made mention in her Wednesday Weekly that the potholes in the parking lot were going to be fixed and that parking was going to change next week…Well, now they are not scheduled to be fixed until October, so drop-off and pick-up will be the same for a while! Thank you for your patience!
*PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES are coming up next week--September 29th and 30th. We get out at 1:00 both days. I will need to end early on Friday night, as we are headed out of town. So, I have added some other time slots (on Monday and Tuesday of next week) to hopefully aid you in finding a time that is suitable for your family. This is a parent/teacher conference only, but children are welcome to hang out in the hallways during the conference. These conferences are for full-time kiddos only. We will be discussing grades, classroom behavior, and some of their special work. I am looking forward to visiting with each of you! Thank you! *There is CROSSWALK on Wednesday nights for these kiddos! Children pre-k thru 5th grade, come hang out with us on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8pm at Crosswalk at our Timothy Lutheran Ministries NORTH CAMPUS (425 NW RD MIZE). There will be songs, crafts, Bible lessons, friends, snacks, and all kinds of fun. Parents, you can register your kiddos with the on the information desk at school or on our website https://www.timothylutheran.com/childrens-ministry/
Any questions, please contact Pastor Ryan ryanh@timothylutheran.com.
*For those of you who missed picture day, RE-TAKE DAY is Friday morning, October 21st!
RELIGION- We discussed the accounts of Abraham and the
Offering of Isaac, as well as Jacob and his Dream. We had wonderful discussions about
sacrificing things for God, and giving up things that are important to us to
focus on HIM. We also talked about how
as Christians, we need to lift up our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ in
Jesus name. We are actively practicing
that in our classroom—although it is hard at times, we are asking the Holy
Spirit to help us in this venture! Every
week, we add new prayers to our Prayer Tree and pray for these things
daily. Pastor Ryan even talked about the
power of prayer in Chapel this week. We
need to remember that we are never alone.
God is always with us and we praise Him for this!
MEMORY for Next Week:
9/27-Please be able to recite all of the OT books
9/30-The New Testament

LANGUAGE ARTS- We read a story entitled, Stormalong, a tall-tale about a sailor on one of the northeast’s’ old clipper ships. We had so much fun reading and discussing this story. Thank you for taking to time to listen to it at home as well! It is so very important for your child to being his or her reading book home at least once a week to review the story we are sharing in class. This helps with retention, as well as oratory skills. With this story, we discussed hyperboles, homophones, and discussed how to use reference materials. In English, we learned how to use common and proper nouns.
SPELLING WORDS for the Week of September 30th:
Story: “Once Upon a Cool Motorcycle Dude”
bunch, fruit, argue, crumb, crew, tune, juice, refuse,
truth, young, clue, trunk, amuse, suit, rude, trust, dew, stuck, rescue, brush,
computer, mustard
Challenge Word: horrendous
MATH- We have been busy in here! We are up to our 4’s in mad minutes, and I am so proud of how hard the kiddos are working on their facts! We are getting them memorized! This week, we have been focusing on whole numbers—adding and subtracting them, even across zeroes. Most of this is review, so we are going through this chapter quickly. Next week, we will be working with multi-step word problems, and test over Chapter 2.
SOCIAL STUDIES- We read Scholastic News this week to get caught up on current events.
SPECIAL CLASSES
ART-We decorated crosses for the congregations’ prayer
breakfast in October, and we also began learning about different types of
lines. We discussed the term “contour line,”
have drawn a contour of an animal to fill in with all of the lines we have learned. We will complete these next week.
MUSIC- Students were able to meet in the music room with Mrs. Hatcher this week, instead of our classroom! Yay! They practiced songs for the upcoming Veteran’s Day Program, as well as a favorite of theirs, “10,000 Reasons.”
WRITING- This week, we have begun writing personal narratives. We began the planning process by discussing events that have happened in our lives. We discussed the characters in each narrative, settings, and problems, and how to write an engaging beginning. We are going to have some fun with these!
COMPUTER LAB- We worked on typing.com and really focused on those home keys!
P.E.- We learned how to spike, pretending we were using a bow and arrow.
Have a wonderful weekend!
