*For those of you who missed picture day, RE-TAKE DAY is Friday morning, October 21st!
Here is what we have been up to this week:
RELIGION- This week in Religion, we discussed the life of
Moses, the 10 Plagues, Passover, and the Exodus. We talked about God’s plan for each of us,
and how we can use ANY of our talents to praise Him now and in the future. We
talked about how the commandments apply to our daily lives. We also watched the
movie, “The Prince of Egypt,” today for our Star party, and then talked about similarities
and differences to the true story.
MEMORY for Next Week:
10/18- A mighty fortress is our God,
A trusty shield and weapon;
He helps us free from ev'ry need
That has us now o'ertaken.
10/21-The old evil foe
Now means deadly woe;
Deep guile and great might
Are his dread arms in fight;
On earth is not his equal.
LANGUAGE ARTS-This week we read the story “Coming
Distractions: Questioning Movies.” We
learned lot of new “movie-making” vocabulary terms, and how we should often
analyze the movies we see to check for content and how truthful the images
are. We had some great discussions about
many of the movies that we have seen, and how music and lighting make you feel
a certain way, and how often the fight or chase scenes don’t show what is
happening all around them. It was
interesting! This week, we also
practiced writing a summary, and finding facts and opinions.
SPELLING Words for Friday, October 21st:
Story: “Me and Uncle Romie”
aloud, bald, hawk, south, faucet, proud, claw, tower, stalk,
couple, howl, false, dawn, allow, drown, pause, fault, cause, amount, cloudier,
applaud, foul

MATH- This week, we began Chapter 3, which is
multiplication! We have been learning
how multiplying relates to addition and subtraction, as well as reviewing fact
families. The class claimed this was
“easy-peasy!” ;) Next week, it will get a bit tougher as we
work with word problems, properties and rules, and factors and multiples. Please keep practicing those math facts! We are onto the 6’s in class! They CAN do this!!!
SOCIAL STUDIES-This week we dove into the Midwest states a
discussed their climate, history, and population.
SPECIAL CLASSES
ART-We finished up our eastern bluebird/flowering dogwood
paintings! These are beautiful! I cannot wait to show them off!
