What a FUN day!

Hello, parents!  It is so hard for me to believe that next week is the last week of school!  Goodness!  Where has this year gone?!

*Right now, all I can hear are giggles and screams of laughter from outside my room.  I love this!  It has been a Happy Fun Day!  THANK YOU for all of your help, assistance, volunteering, donating, and prayers!  We have AMAZING parents in this class!  Thank you for stepping up!

*(NEXT MONDAY-the last LIBRARY!) This past Monday (May 1) was the last day for students to check out books from the library.  All books are due back by next Monday, May 8.  If students have any library books that are unreturned, they received a list this week.  Please check in with them and search for the missing books.  Thank you!

*ALL missing work and work that was corrected needs to be in by Monday too.  No exceptions!  Thank you for your help in this matter.

*Please have your child bring a school bag to school every day next week.  We will slowly be cleaning out our desks and sending things home!  Thank you!

*(NEXT TUESDAY)-4th grade’s END-OF-THE-YEAR FIELD TRIP-To culminate our studies of Missouri History, we are going to the Harry S. Truman Memorial Library and Museum! We will leave school at 8:45 and head to the Truman Library (500 W US HWY 24, Independence, MO 64050) for our tour at 9:30.  After this guided tour, we will have a sack lunch at McCoy Park (across the Truman Library), play for a while, and then continue to Burr Oak Woods to hike some fun trails before we get back to school by the end of the school day.  We were able to receive a scholarship for the museum tour, so the students and 7 adult chaperones are free. The tour is about two hours long. (Don't forget to send a sack lunch and drink!)

*(NEXT WEDNESDAY) FOOD TRUCK PTL NIGHT-May 10th, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.!  This is so fun!  Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and let’s have a picnic, food-truck-style!  The food trucks will be Burritos Lagos KC and Weenies & Paninis!

*(NEXT THURSDAY) 4TH GRADE’S FAMOUS MISSOURIAN LIVING MUSUEM!  It will be from 9:30-10:30 in the 4-G’s area outside of the school hallway.  Please come, see, and learn!  Please ask your kiddo what his or her plan is for an outfit.  I am bringing some things I have at home, and some have said they have things as well.  Please don’t stress or go and buy anything!  Together, we should be able to come up with something!  Thank you for your help!  This is a fun event to look forward to!  Also, boys that have a summer birthday—we will share your treats in the afternoon!

*(NEXT FRIDAY-THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL and 1:00 DISMISSAL!)  Final report cards will come home.  Please join us for our closing Chapel and Activity Awards at 9:00.  😊

*YEARBOOK order forms were sent home last week. Here is the link to order: inter-state.com/flyerentry. Use code 74087E. They are $15 each. The last day to order is May 12.

*We launched the 4th Quarter MISSION PROJECT last week! We are collecting diapers for Impact Ministries. If we can collect 1,000 diapers, Mrs. Anderson will get a pie to my face at our last chapel on May 12. If we get 2,000 – Mrs. Romo gets pie-ed. 3,000 – Pastor Ryan gets pie-ed. 4,000 – Mr. Holland gets pie-ed! 😊  Let’s GO!  Right now, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Romo, and Pastor Ryan are ALL getting pies!

This week:

RELIGION-  This week, we have doubled up on lessons, and have learned about Pentecost, and how Jesus’ disciples then went out into the world to spread the Good News.  We discussed how Perter and John healed the lame man.  We also talked about how we, as brothers and sisters of Christ, also need to share the Gospel message with all who need to hear it.  We can do this with our thoughts, words, and deeds every day!

No more memory work!

LANGUAGE ARTS-  We finished up learning about Harry S. Truman this week, discussing his first jobs, and his presidency.  We are ready to visit his museum to see the artifacts that we discussed and learn even more about him!

We won’t have another spelling or reading test!

MATH-We are learning standard measurement—inches, feet, yards, miles, and capacity.  We will celebrate memorizing our multiplication next Wednesday during math time with some ice cream sundaes!

SCIENCE-Next week, we will learn about life cycles.  Monday and Wednesday will be our last lessons and experiments.

SPECIAL CLASSES:

Art-We “modge-podged” our Osage Pottery and then had free0draw.

Writing-We filled in 4th grade memory books and worked on our biography projects.
