Hello, all! I am sending
this newsletter a day early, just in case! ;)
What an odd week we have had! I
pray you have had some family-time with your kiddos and were able to stay warm
and snuggle down!
This week, we did get a few things accomplished!
Religion: We have
studied Naaman and Elisha this week, along with God’s saving grace! We will learn about Jonah tomorrow or next
week.
Math: We are slowly
learning how to complete long division.
This is an arduous task, but light bulbs have been going off this week,
and I am proud of the kiddos! We will
keep working until we “get this!” Please
work on this at home as well. Thank
you.
Language Arts/Social Studies: We have begun studying the lives of Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks. In
Reading class, we read the story, “Happy Birthday, Dr. King!”, and have been
studying words like “protest” and “boycott” that have helped us understand these
events in history. We will continue learning
about them and the Civil Rights Movement tomorrow and next week.
Science- We read all about ferns, moss, and spores, and how
these plants reproduce.
A few things about next week:
*We will not have school on Monday, to commemorate Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr.’s birthday.
We will keep the same memory as this week:
Memory:
1/16- (No Memory, but we will have a short matching test
over the commandments. They will need to
be able to match the number of the commandment with the commandment.)
1/19-The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven.
We will keep the same spelling words:
SPELLING WORDS for Friday, January 19th: (from “Happy
Birthday, Dr. King!”)
peaceful, protest, fare, injustice, boycott, civil rights,
dream, equality, freedom, movement, treatment, kindness, *stupendous
Other matters:
*Report cards will come home soon! Mrs. Anderson is printing them, and when that
is completed, they will come home.
*Talent Show tryouts have been rescheduled for next Tuesday,
January 16th, at 3:45. Students will
meet in the 4-G’s after school, and then we will head over to Mrs. Stevenson’s
room as a group for tryouts. Thank
you!
*Please mark your calendars for our January Book Fair
January 21-26 in the lobby! The fair
will be open before and after school January 22-25 (Monday-Thursday), during
Grandparents' Day (Friday, January 26), and before and after both Worship
services on January 21 (Sunday). We also
have an online option at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/tlsrams. Thank you
